Winding Down

I’ve taken my cough syrup with eight ozzies of water and I’m coughing. I called and canceled rehab tomorrow. If I don’t have the energy to go, there’s no way I’d have the energy to do what’s expected of me.

Twenty-nine days ago, I contributed a little bit to the medical fund of a lady I’ve known most of my life. The pastor emailed she had passed away this morning. There was an update on the Go Fund Me page that said she died peacefully in her sleep. Rest in peace, Ruth.

The Catz have provided some needed comedy relief today. When I went out to feed them first thing, Black Tom was so intent on getting something to eat, he tunneled under his aunt and was eating out of her bowl. She was reaching over him and eating, too. Finally, she gave up and climbed over him, then almost lost it but recovered from nearly falling off the railing. I wished I had my camera so I could have videoed it but it would have been so shaky, anyone watching would have been seasick.

Later this afternoon, I went out for the second feeding and was surprised that it was raining. It was a soft, gentle rain. Black Tom and one of the aunts showed up and they were both damp. When I petted them, cat hair stuck to my hand.

Mr. Stripey

One of my Facebook friends was supposed to bring me some Mr. Stripey tomatoes but she either forgot or she was too busy. I’ve had a few good tomatoes this year but most have been the commercial kind that would do well being shipped a thousand miles. Some have had huge hard cores. Not my mama’s summertime tomatoes.

Several summers ago, I grew some Mr. Stripeys. As soon as they got ripe, something or someone picked every one of them clean off the vines while I was at work. I was heartbroken and steamed, to say the least.

Cuz’ sister (also my cousin) was supposed to take me for rehab tomorrow. I’ve messaged her on Facebook that she’s off the hook. She said her husband will be here tomorrow to help Cuz with the weedeater. Maybe she’ll have the 25′ cannula with her and I can roam around the house — well, at least to the bathroom — while using the portable oxygen concentrator.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Michael Phelps has shattered a 2,168 year old record. Up until now, the record for one person to win gold medals was 21. Now, he has 22. I wonder how long it will take for someone to come along and break his record? I’m sure i won’t be in my lifetime.

I’ll be heading for bed soon and hoping for another night of better sleep. I spend a lot of time praying and pleading with the Lord to allow me to rest. Maybe tonight will be the night. Kind of reminds me of the movie, “Little Big Man”. It’s 46 years old but I still remember it.

First time I’ve heard of stripey tomatoes. Sorry you didn’t get to harvest yours. Hope today is going better than usual for you!

Mr. Stripey is an heirloom tomato and really juicy.

Not kicking very fast or very high.

    Tommie, good evening.
I’m winding down to…its been in the 100% in SE Oklahoma.
Been watching the Olympics, to hot to be out side…
I’m sorry the cough meds not helping you. nor the rehab working out.
Praying you have a restful night…

I hope that’s dry heat, Merry!
The Olympics have had to go on without me since I don’t have TV and I can’t find a site to stream them.
The cough med certainly helped last night. I ended up sleeping about 12 hours.

Wonderful!…12 hours. You needed the rest
I usually get between 6-7 hours.
I’ve always been a restlessness sleeper.

I had to look that up. Never heard of the Ouachita Mountains before.

Amazing, isn’t it? I was getting, maybe, between three and four hours quality sleep a night. I’ve read that seven hours is optimal but I don’t see how everyone can be lumped into one category.

No wonder you’re so weak. With so much coughing, getting no rest.
May you enjoy a peaceful night.
