The Stink Wins

Note: This contains erroneous information regarding The Chip. It’s been corrected in “A Race?”. My apologies to anyone I might have led astray.

For years, I’ve been using a bar of pink Himalayan sea salt to rub in my ‘pits. It did the job up until the past few months — or maybe longer. I’ve had to battle the smell by scrubbing with various soaps and shaving often, then rubbing my skin briskly with the bar.

This morning, I looked up natural deodorants. I found a website that rated the top 10. The first choice wasn’t well rated on Amazon so I searched for the second choice. The Weleda Sage Deodorant costs less and was rated at four out of five stars. It doesn’t have anything objectionable in it so I ordered it. I kind of gulped when I did because it was so expensive. Only using it when I go out in public should make it last longer, though.

Last Friday, I’d cornered the dentist and told him I was coming in later this month to finish my cleaning. Should I go ahead and make an appointment to get started on the other work or wait until after that? Sure. It’s best we get started. I called today. The phone didn’t even ring when I heard “beep beep boop beep biddledy beep boop”. Tentatively, I said, “Hello?” The voice on the other end asked, “Who am I speaking to?” I said, “I was calling the dentist’s office.” Oh! She was sorry. Yes, it was the office. How could she help me? Long story short, she has me down for an extended visit on the same day as my cleaning. I’ll plan to stay awhile.

Since I was out of oranges, grapefruit, bananas and avocados, I got ready and went to town. Gas had been up to $2.289 but it dropped to $2.159. Still a lot more than the last time I’d filled up at $1.779 but I don’t like for the needle to get any lower than a quarter of a tank. I’d gotten a new credit card with The Chip the other day but I still had to swipe it there. My mpg is just over 37.

The last time I was at the Used Food Store, I got some Pictsweet edamame in the steamable bag. I generally don’t like to eat much soy but the beans are supposed to not have the impact on the thyroid that soy isolate does. I’d contacted the company and was assured the edamame is a non-GMO product. I went in and got four bags at 69 cents each. I should have enough to last me.

It was on to Walmart. The bananas were glow-in-the-dark green so I went to the other entrance and got some that were somewhat better. Later, a woman asked me where I’d found them. I offered to share but she didn’t take me up on it. The price match was 49 cents vs 57.

The avocados are pygmy-sized and priced at 88 cents each. I price matched at 69 which made them a little more attractive.

I don’t remember how much the English cucumbers were but I got ’em for $1 each. Marinated cucumbers, here I come.

Oranges were $4.68 for four lubs. I got ’em for $2.99. Still not as good as $1.79 a few weeks ago but better than full price.

Silk was $2.97 a half gallon. With price match, it was $2.50. I had three coupons — two for $1 each and one for 75 cents. I also had a $1 coupon for Just Mayo that I used to replenish my supply of the garlic variety.

The price on one of my prescriptions had dropped by 89 cents. Thankfully, both it and my thyroid med were ready to be picked up. I got to use The Chip part of my card. It takes a lot longer. I hope it’s as secure as it’s supposed to be.

In spite of all these savings, I kind of broke the bank with an heirloom artichoke. It is YUUUUUUGE and $2.87. Artichokes are a once in awhile treat as it is. This one will have to do me for a long time.

While I was there, I checked the prices of deodorant. The better ones are either as much or more than I paid and I’m sure they have objectionable ingredients. Made me feel better.

When I got home, I pulled up to the garage to put most of the edamame in the freezer. I figured I’d see some Catz but there was only one. Pulling around to the house didn’t net me any more. A lot of the food from this morning was still in the bowls so I didn’t bother to fill them again.

Getting everything out of the car was a chore but I made it. I discovered the cashier had put my eight lubs of oranges on top of my bananas. I’m sure there will be some bruising.

OwlsWell, after reading all the experiences of people getting ripped off because of The Chip, I’ve ordered a little wallet to carry my cards. The design I chose is the one with the little owl sitting on the head of the large owl and the other owls on birdhouses. There are several different views and lots of designs on Amazon.

I’m tired. I didn’t even change my clothes until after I’d eaten and brushed my teeth. When I was Waterpik-ing, I managed to wet the front of my shirt which went through to my jeans and panties. After that, I kinda had to change.

Well, Hillary and Bernie have finally settled on another debate date. Thursday, April 14. Bernie is a bit ticked because he had to change his schedule to accommodate it. I think everyone will survive. It will be on CNN and will start at 9 p.m. ET which is 8 p.m. TT. Wolf will moderate. And may the Force be with him.

Pretty little case, but how can that keep you from getting ripped off?

I also got the new card with the chip. I thought it was supposed to be a lot safer. Guess there will be people who can coming up with new ways to steal.

RFID readers are easily available. You can just walk by someone with one and they have your card information.

I never heard of this before. Tried looking it up without results. Can you enlighten me?

I’ll give you a link but, for me, it doesn’t apply per this post. This article explains how Radio Frequency IDentification works.
