Out and About

BRRRRRRRRRRrrrr, it’s cold! I put Mother’s comforter on the bed last night and then got up and put another blanket over my feet. It was 62 in the house when I got up this morning. I turned on the Dr Heater in the living room and the oven (where else?) in the kitchen.

DD called and they’ve found a house to rent. They’ll be moving in two weeks even though they don’t have to be out that soon. She said it will give them a chance to get everything cleaned up. I’m glad it’s them and not me.

My bath felt good today. I kept heating the water up and finally got thawed out. Just a little while ago, I went in to get another box of tissues out of the linen cabinet. I was thinking it would be nice to have my fingerless gloves since my hands are so cold—and there they were on the table in the bedroom!

DD is very concerned about her friends in the path of the fires in California. One of her friends lost her business for sure and probably her home. Her mother was able to save the family dog but the other pets had to be left behind. My sister posted a request for prayer because DD’s alma mater is threatened. I posted on merm’s dad’s wall to ask for the latest but haven’t heard anything yet. It makes me wonder if he’s helping with the evacuation since he works on campus.

There was a get-together at the pastor’s house this evening. I had gotten a Fine Herbs Veggie Roll out of the freezer Friday and put it in the fridge to thaw. I mashed it up today with Just Mayo, chopped celery, dill relish, pimiento, kala namak and celery seed. I think I went a little too heavy on the last ingredient.

I allowed half an hour to get to my destination but it became obvious I was going to get there ‘way too early. I stopped at Fred’s and bought five little bowls to put out for the Catz. They won’t all feed at the communal container at the same time so maybe these will help. It kind of hurt, though, that the price had more than doubled.

When I got to the house, it was right at 5:30. I was still one of the first ones there. We all had plenty of time to visit. I was hoping to eat and leave while there was still some daylight but that wasn’t to be. It was supposed to be over at 7 but it was going on 8 when I left.

People were surprised that I’m driving. I can’t hire a chauffeur and wouldn’t if I could. I don’t think.

There was a massive amount of food. Mine wound up back in the back of the gluten free grouping. Very little had been taken and I could see why. It wasn’t delicious.

When I got home, I started coughing and didn’t think I was going to quit until I threw up. It’s about worn me out. I’m going to crawl into bed and try to recoup. Before I do, I’m going to get my down booties out of the closet and make sure my feet stay good and warm.

Almost seem miraculous that you have gone from needing supplemental oxygen to being independent again in what seems to me a short time! So thankful!

      I’m thankful, too.
