The First Day of the Week

There isn’t a lot to tell about for today. I haven’t had to work at staying cool since the a/c is still chugging along.

DD and her SO were away for the weekend so I didn’t get a phone call.

I scouted out the tomatoes and got one small one that was scarred up by the stinkbugs. The squash plant is kind of droopy but bearing. There are several small squash and I got this feller for my last meal of the day.

Summer Squash

It was good cooked up with onion.

The Catz came to be fed except for Six. I didn’t see her OR the Kittenz. For that matter, the neighbor cat didn’t show up, either.

I happened to think I hadn’t checked the apple place about peaches. I looked up their page on Facebook and, sad to say, the peaches were all but gone yesterday so I’m sure they didn’t have any today. So…unless I get some imported ones, that’s it for me this year.

The hour grows late so I’ll let wrap this up for tonight. Sleep well.

Seems to me the peach season must have been short, as well as the strawberry season. Or maybe time is just going faster for me these days.

Elbertas ripen in August but they are hard to find. I got some in Seattle in September but I’m not out there!

That’s a beautiful squash! I finally have one that I can pick any time, but it’s smaller than that.
I do still have tomatoes and peppers, though. And some corn!

It was on the borderline of being too big but it was still tender. I’ve picked all of the ripe tomatoes but there are still some that should be ready in a few days. Enjoy your provender! There’s a volunteer vine of some sort that is growing from where the compost bin used to be but I have no idea what it is. It has blossoms but no fruit—yet.
