Late last night or early this morning, I had to deploy the blanket. I fold it up along the far edge of the bed. The bedrail keeps it from falling to the floor. When I protested to its being left up, the man who brought it said it would be good to try it out and I could lower it later if I wanted. It’s stayed up.
The boxes and pots on the deck were full of dead plants so I busied myself and carried them around to the side of the house. I’d been concerned about taking the boxes down the steps so I lined them up at the edge of the deck and carried them from there. It looks empty but a lot better.
My nurse friend got here right at 10 a.m. I’d had a shower and most of my devotions were done. She accepted my invitation to sit down for a visit. One of the doctors is retiring and his lunch is in a week and a half. She wants me to go. I’ll have to think about it. I don’t have any decent clothes any more.
While she was here, there was a very loud noise like something hitting the front of the house about where we were sitting. What it was, I still don’t know.
After she left, I took a good look at the squash plant. It had a squash that I’d missed. HUGE!! It was still a nice yellow with smooth skin so I cut it up and stewed it with onion. The seeds were tender. It would probably have made four usual sized squash. And good! Man, oh man! I steamed some okra on top of the squash and it wasn’t as tasty as it has been. I preceded that with a salad and followed it with an open faced tomato and onion sandwich which I ate with a fork.
Loud crashes of thunder meant there was lightning around somewhere this afternoon. I never did know if it rained or not.
My former roommate called me for a conversation. She wanted to know if I were eating but I told her I’d finished already. Guess that’s early for her but a person with reflux has to take every precaution to keep it from flaring up.
It’s a couple degrees cooler than it was when I went to bed last night. I hope tonight is a good one, sleep-wise. I got spoiled by the restful nights I had before the a/c decided to back off.
