Catching Up

We’ll see how this goes. I’ve almost waited too late again. Two doses of Reglan is about twice as much as I can handle and type so this will be just the highlights. Again.

Cuz took me out for a walk yesterday. She was afraid the physical therapy guy would take me outside today and spoil her surprise. The shed is up! I was able to enjoy the out of doors for a little while.

Later, I discovered the front door has a gap at the top that gives enough room for Ralph to be hung over. That isn’t to confused with a hangover. I walked down both sets of steps and went back out to look at the shed all by myself. I felt rather devil-may-care.

DS1 called and we had quite a long conversation for just talking. He’d gotten his anniversary present early. It’s a Bluetooth headset for his phone. I told him not to walk off and leave his phone in a restaurant somewhere.

It got so hot in the house I had to turn the fan on. It was 78 when I went to bed. Shades of what’s to come? It will be highly unpleasant if I have to swelter this summer.

I woke after daylight this morning. That’s vs 4:30 for a lot of mornings when I came home from the hospital. I hadn’t been out of bed for more than 10 minutes when the phone rang. It was Marvin, the physical therapist. He was on his way. I protested that I’d just gotten up. I hadn’t had breakfast. He agreed to put off our session until later this morning. It was about 10:30 when he got here. (I don’t know if that’s TT or EDT.)

In the meantime, I took a bath, ate breakfast, got dressed and brushed my teeth. He should be thankful I bathed. I was pretty ripe from sleeping in the hothouse last night.

He put me through my paces which didn’t include my going for a walk outside so there was no rush on the shed-showing. Anyway, I did 15 reps of this, that and the other, 10 of several and five of some. He had me stand at the kitchen sink (which was full of the dirty dishes I’d had no energy to make room for in the dishwasher) to do some of the exercises. The last was sitting on a chair and getting up (and down) five times. When he checked my O2 sat after that, it was 98%. BP had been 130/74 prior to.

Cuz came and got me to sit out on the deck after Marvin left. Her twin brother was here with his wife and grandson. She motioned for wife to come over and we sat together, enjoying the sunshine. She’d talk and I’d try to listen but she speaks very softly. I think she was a little alarmed when I stood all by myself and came into the house. Guess I was outside the better part of an hour.

DS1 called to let me know someone died who was at the university when I was in academy. I think he was more my sister’s contemporary. We didn’t talk long since DS1 was on the truck headed for home base. I didn’t ask if he was using his headset.

Cuz has fixed an old lamp that I thought was past its prime. I was planning to get a hanging lamp for a dark corner but now I’m not so sure.

I boiled some peanuts yesterday and they are the best I’ve ever had, I do believe. They aren’t squishy but still have a bit of a “bite” to them. Between my CIL (he got them from Walmart) and me, we done good.

Weatherbug was in alert mode, warning about a freeze until Sabbath morning. It says no fruit trees are in bloom. I hope it’s right. Also, strawberry plants are in danger of dying from the “prolonged cold”. I went out (!) and looked at mine. They look healthy enough but I’d hate for them to perish.

I have one regret this year. I’m missing spring. I was thinking about it yesterday and was to the point of tears when I thought, “How many springs has Genese missed?” and that put it in perspective. One spring out of 71 isn’t such bad odds.

This afternoon, I was feeling quite brave so I got my folder out and did my income tax return. TaxAct makes it very easy and I get nothing back because I paid nothing in and I owe nothing. I think everyone who has to pay should try it one time, at least, even if they don’t file with it. ‘Twould be interesting to see the outcome. Mine is all done and efiled for another year.

A little while ago, the sky opened up and the rain came down in torrents. I was amazed.

My favorite wind chime lost its string, clapper and windcatcher. Cuz rigged something to do for now but I’ve sent a request for a quote to the company. Surely it won’t be a whole lot just for that.

I’m starting to get trembly so I guess I’ll wind this up for now.

Sounds like you’re gaining strength, and that’s wonderful!

      I hope you’re right!

Glad you could spend time outside! There will still be more Spring to enjoy–before and after the big weekend freeze, so it’s not a total loss.

If it will wait for next week, I’ll be out and about to see it.

8 years –14% of my 56 years — have been spent in bed. But I am so thankful I am still here. In 2003 three of my doctors predicted I would die within 6 months if I didn’t do something drastic to reduce my weight and adopt a healthier lifestyle. With the help of a gastric bypass, I was able to reduce my weight, my blood pressure and my blood sugar. I had so many dreams of what I would do with renewed health, but it was not to be. In October 2006, I fell, doing irreparable damage to my back. So I have been in bed since then but I am blessed. If I had died before my 45th birthday as those doctors believed, I would not have seen my grandchildren. I would not have met so many wonderful friends you have introduced me to. So while I have missed 8 Springs, I feel I have gained so much more.

Daddy was tethered to oxygen for the last few years of his life. His O2 supplier strung tubing up along the ceiling from his bedroom where the concentrater was located to his favorite chair in the living-room. Then he measured enough tubing to coil beside chair so that Daddy could easily go to the bathroom, the dining table, the fridge and the backdoor. (the house has a very open floor plan) Perhaps Ralph could be lengthened so you could move about more freely.

I knew it was many, many times my one spring. I’m glad you’ve made new friends! They are all precious people.

That sounds like a thoughtful supplier. I can go from one end of the house to the other and quite a little distance outside. Handling 50′ of line is enough. Anything more and I’ll switch to the portable.
