I’d checked on my cousin’s computer this morning and it hadn’t updated. I’d been hoping against hope but that didn’t help at all. I brought it home with me and she and I proceeded to text back and forth. The upshot of it all was that she had backed up everything she needed to keep and for me to go ahead and start over.
The construction partner’s daughter’s services had been private close family affairs. He wanted to do something to include other family members and friends so my cousin had spent the last few days getting ready for a get-together this afternoon. I’d planned to fix something to contribute to the meal but ran out of time. I grabbed a bag of exotic chips to take and left. The computer was finishing up more than 120 updates.
Why I hadn’t bought a sympathy card when I was in town the other day is beyond me. I went to Walmart and picked one out plus I got some replacement light bulbs for my salt lamps.
Whenever I go to the partner’s house, I always think I’m past it when I’m not even close. I clocked it on the way back and, one way, it’s about 31 miles from there to here. Coupled with my trip to Walmart, I drove close to 70 miles. That was once pretty routine but not any more.
I’d been warned there would be a lot of people there and it was true. The driveway is pretty wide and it was lined with cars several deep and wide. There was one spot at the end so I slid in.
People were sitting on the front porch and when I got in the house, the kitchen and living room were both full. I had my cousin’s brother-in-law open my offering which I set on the counter with some other chips. I sampled some and decided I probably won’t buy any more. I rarely to never drink soda but I had some ginger ale. It was a good thing I’d eaten a late breakfast.
After I’d greeted the host and hostess and talked to the BIL, I made my way to the living room where I’d spied my cousin’s twin brother’s wife. I hadn’t seen her for a long time so I sat down and we visited most of the rest of the time I was there.
Almost a couple of hours after I’d gotten there, I took my leave. Most of the others had left, too, so I wasn’t the first by any means. I did check with my cousin about what she wanted me to put back on her computer and the only thing she could think of was Open Office.
It fell to me to feed the critters. I parked on that side while I took care of the chores. Only three Catz showed up. I don’t know if the numbers are dwindling or if a couple of them were out enjoying the nice weather.
DD had called while I was out. I emailed her and let her know I’d just gotten home and we can talk tomorrow. That was okay with her.
Twinkle is looking bored and I’m tired so I think I’ll hang this up for tonight. It’s been a busy day.
