I was perusing Facebook this morning when I came across something very interesting. One of my friends had shared a graphic from the ECMWF (European Center for Medium range Weather Forecasting). Seems a lot of stock is put into their models. From what I understand, they were right on target for what happened earlier this week that took everyone by surprise. Here is the image:
The group that posted it made this comment, “First things first, this is 10 days out and is not a forecast. With that being said this is a heads up just to let you know what might be coming, we will keep u updated.”
If you look at the right of the map, there is the legend explaining what the different colors are. The light turquoise-ish blue that’s over much of Tennessee ties in with around 24-26″. At the top of the image, it says Snow depth at 12Z (that’s Zulu which is 7 a.m. at my house) on February 7. WHICH is my birthday. It will be interesting to see what develops.
I looked up the total snowfall for Chattanooga in March of ’93 (remember The Blizzard?) and it was 23″. I don’t remember what it was here but it was quite amazing for this part of the country.
My cousin came by this afternoon and fed the critters so I didn’t have to do that.
I’d baked a carrot cake yesterday and made Daiya cream cheese icing for it today and I think I got it too sweet this time. I also made tapioca with some ready-to-expire chocolate almond milk. The kale I’ve been buying has gotten better and better. I had a large bag of already washed so I cooked it. Most of it and the tapioca will go in the freezer tomorrow. I have it in containers and it’s between the front door and the storm door where it will get good and cold tonight.
It was laundry day and I did a huge load. I’m glad to have that done before tomorrow.
This morning started out at 3 degrees and warmed up into the 40s. I was hoping the thaw would extend to the septic tank line but it hasn’t. There isn’t much hope for it tonight since it’s already down to 27. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 40s again so maybe there’s hope.
The snow is slowly melting. I couldn’t let the day go by without chronicling it. It looks so used.
Good news from Genese! “it’s been three weeks and i am so happy to be back in my room. the walls have a fresh coat of paint and the floors were stripped and rewaxed. Going to need some help unpacking and repacking some boxes. State regs mandate plastic containers or tubs, no cardboard boxes are allowed. anyone have any to spare? i need three or four.”
I got Twinkle a new toy to try to get her to be more active. I even sprayed it with some catnip spray. She played with it a little and then got on her chair and went to sleep.
Last night was a late night (or should I say early morning?). Tonight can’t be the same. I’m winding this up because I’m winding down. ‘Night!
