It’s the LAST Night

of 2013. When I wake in the morning, it will be 2014. No, I won’t be staying up to see the New Year in. I’m sure there are places online I could “go” to see the ball drop but I’d rather sleep. It’s barely after 8 and I’m already yawning.

The banana nut muffins are tasty even though they don’t have DD’s special vanilla in them. I had to use some in the carrot cake I made for DS2’s birthday tomorrow and I hope it wasn’t wasted. It seems quite dense and heavy but I went by the recipe except for not putting in as much sugar as it called for. It’s probably a mistake to try new recipes on the guests without testing them out first. It might be the thought that counts in this instance.

Besides the cake, I made cornbread waffles. I like the crunch of the crust more than the soft inside so I make the batter a bit thinner and bake it in the waffle maker. I didn’t get them as brown as I would if I were planning to eat them right away. Before they’re served, I’ll heat them up in the toaster.

My DIL is bringing food and I’m planning on traditional New Year’s fare. I may have a lot of leftovers to eat but maybe I can send some home for DS2 to have for later. I certainly hope so.

I had to pop over to my cousin’s house to borrow an ingredient and while I was there, I checked her computer. It had successfully installed 56 updates since yesterday so it shouldn’t have too many more to go. She was cleaning out and sorting and hadn’t gotten around to checking it herself.

Laundry’s washed, dried and folded, and everything I was planning to do today is done. I’ve eaten too much but I had to sample one of the waffles after it had been toasted, didn’t I? And that last tiny one wasn’t worth putting away…

Twinkle gave up on me today and went to occupy the throw DD used while she was here. It probably still has her scent and I’m sure it’s comforting.

Missing DD

An email from the editor says I may have the rest of the mobile lessons to do. That involves linking to all the texts on BibleGateway. I already have to do the remaining helps and insert the anchors and links for them. I sent a message back that tomorrow is out but, if need be, I can start on Thursday.

Genese is holding out on me. I thought she’d have a 2014 Wordscraper board but she must be otherwise occupied. She did leave me a note after that 820,000 point word that her foot hurts where she shot it.

Twinkle needs some lap time and I’m going to bed soon so it’s now or not at all tonight.

The cornbread waffles sound interesting. I like the crust better, too, but don’t think I’ll bother with the waffle iron. I just make thin cornbread! In fact, once Mike was here when I had made it thinner than usual, and called it a pancake.

I didn’t bake them all the way and it took four minutes per. They’re handy to keep in the freezer and I can just pop them in the toaster.

They’ve been here and gone but I’ll pass the message along.
