Yesterday, Today – but Not Forever

Man! I am so sleepy! Night before last, I actually did get to bed earlier than the night before but I woke after an hour or so with a horrific ankle cramp that would NOT go away. I tried rubbing it, stretching, walking, what-have-you. I admitted defeat and took a pain pill. Except for bathroom breaks, I slept the rest of the night.

Yesterday, I did a large load of laundry, dishes and cleaned some around the house. In the morning, I got an email from the HTML expert saying he had finished his part of the lessons for the first quarter 2014. That seems so strange since there’s still a lot of formatting left to do. Anyway, when I opened the file in KompoZer, in mid-March, there were strange quotation marks over and over and over.

Off and on all day, I tried to make sense of it. The file displayed correctly in both Chrome and Firefox but it was all messed up in my WYSIWYG editor. I knew it had to be something in the code but the expert insisted it was clean. I was up until 12:45 this morning and still hadn’t figured it out. My eyes felt like they were going to fall out of their sockets.

This morning, I started on it again halfway through my quiet time. Seems getting a fresh start helped because I found the offending code and fixed it. When I saved it and opened it again, my heart dropped. In the very last lesson close to the end, there were multiple quotes. I emailed said expert and told him he could take care of that one.

Well, you know how I said I’m too anal for my own good? I couldn’t leave it alone. I guess I’m a bit OCD when it comes to getting it right. When I’d finished my quiet time and breakfast, I had another look at it and figured it out! I was so proud of myself. The expert emailed that he would fix it but, by that time, I’d already sent an email to the team that it was done.

Now, I’ve proofed lessons one and two and that’s enough for today.

Computer work isn’t all I’ve done, though. I did some more housecleaning. I ran the vacuum over the “high traffic” areas and marveled that Twinkle didn’t budge until I got almost to her chair.

I also did some scanning. I found Batman. The date stamped on this is July 1973 but it has to be the year before, at least. I’d made Batman and Robin “capes” for DS1 and DS2 and DS1 is modeling his.

My handiwork looked nothing like the “real” thing but they didn’t care. They felt just as adventurous as they would have had they been dressed in full regalia.

This has been lying around for days. It’s appropriate for the holidays.

No Treat

It goes well with this video where a little boy realizes where his food is coming from. Click on the “play” arrow to bring up the menu at the bottom of the window. Then click on “CC” and select English to get subtitles—unless, of course, you’re fluent in Portuguese.

Cousin had called yesterday afternoon and let me know she needed me to feed the animals. I’d wondered because every time I showed my face, I was mobbed. I took care of it and came home.

I wish Twinkle’s appetite was as good as those kittens-almost-cats. She has decided she doesn’t want to eat her canned food so now it’s almost exclusively dry. There was quite a bit of canned left in her bowl today so I took it out and gave it to the first kitten that showed up. I think it inhaled the food. That dab won’t give it an iodine deficiency. I put a tiny bit in Twinkle’s bowl tonight and it’s probably still there, untouched.

The piano hasn’t been played yesterday or today and won’t be unless I get a burst of energy. As it is, my eyes are almost closed already.

Genese won the last Wordscraper game but, unless I miss my guess, I’ve got the current one in the bag. I was looking back at an old post and I was talking about the insane boards she was creating. The last few have been pretty tame but just watch her create a turkey or a cornucopia or a pine cone.

I was supposed to do the barium swallow today but I called and canceled. I don’t know why I need to do it to find out I have acid reflux when I already know I do. When the lady asked if I wanted to reschedule I told her no. If I decide to do it later, I’ll call and make another appointment.

Click on CC? I don’t see CC. Okay, I went to YouTube and was able to do it there. Very insightful child!

I should have been more specific. I’m glad you were able to get the subtitles. Yes, he is quite amazing for his age. Here’s hoping he sticks with his resolve. I wonder how he’d feel about dairy and eggs if he knew the abuse that goes on in factory farms…AND the drugs the animals are given that are passed on to the consumer?

Lila, I edited the post and made it clearer how to get the subtitles (I hope).

I got it after the clearer directions. (You know I need all the help I can get!). The little fellow has the right idea.
