I’ve been without oranges for several days. When I was doing my grocery shopping, the only bags of oranges available were four lub ones for $5.97. Huh-uh. No way. The fruit was huge and pithy looking. That’s when I decided I could live without.
It was cloudy most of the day. The power went off this morning and all the woman could tell me when I called was they had been notified and were working on it. It came back on shortly.
The first course at breakfast was the last two peaches, a mango and the rest of the blueberries. No sugar needed.
I picked up one of the mangoes and it was rotten. Next time I go to Walmart, I’ll take it back. They may wish they would trust that I’m telling the truth when they see it. There was a little black spot on the end and I thought that was it. Nope. Except for maybe an inch square on the side, it was all black.
That wasn’t all that was black. The cloud cover got so thick, it looked like late afternoon. Then the bottom dropped out. The rain came pounding down and when I checked the gauge, there was a full inch. When I headed for the garden, two of the kittens scurried away. I hope they don’t get the idea that those are giant litter boxes.
The house isn’t going to clean itself so I summoned some energy today to work on it. I’d work for a while and then rest. Twinkle had been tearing through the house yesterday and when I started sweeping behind her bathroom door, I found out why. There was a little mouse body in the corner. Rigor mortis had set in but no decay. I got some tissue and gave it a burial at sea.
This afternoon, the call finally came. My latest attempt at hearing aids are in but I can’t be fitted until late in the week. I asked the secretary to call me if there’s a cancellation and she said she would. I won’t hold my breath.
Tonight, I’ll take some cough medicine before I go to bed. Last night, it was midnight before I gave in. I need sleep!
