It’s been a long day. The power never did go off and stay off but the lights blinked a few times this morning. I’m sure that the people in the Superdome in New Orleans would gladly take a few blinking lights in exchange for what they are having to endure. It’s such a terrible situation and they are pretty much stuck until things improve and that’s going to take a long time.
I didn’t BF this morning but I did do 50 squats, 10 wall pushups, and 10 presses. Oh, and it was a red letter day! When I was doing the last exercise in my vision therapy regimen for this week, I was able to focus on the numbers with my left eye and see them clearly for the first time! My right eye is much stronger so I’ve had no problem seeing with it but it was exciting to have those numbers sharp! Now, if I could do some ear exercises but I don’t think there’s anything like that. I do have my ear candles but I have to have someone help me with them.
Breakfast was a mango and a banana/blueberry smoothie. I made the latter with fresh blueberries and it had to sit for a few minutes before I drank it. It turned into a pudding-like consistency and I ate it with a spoon. It was pretty neat!
I didn’t know what to expect when I got to work. I’d heard on the news that the schools were closed because of power outages but the lights had only blinked there, too. Seems Katrina had wreaked havoc on Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, but was pretty much exhausted when she got here. She downed a few trees and power lines but that’s nothing compared to what she did yesterday.
The weather wasn’t conducive to eating out of doors so I had my watermelon in the break room.
Lunch was a large salad of romaine, spinach, and parsley with Matt’s dip and tomatoes on the side.
I went to Wal*Mart after work and talked to my friend for awhile there. When I’d talked to him before, I’d had a fruit lunch and had to get home to eat so I’d cut it short but my salad lunch stood me in better stead. I’ve read a lot about eating the veggie meal as the last one of the day but I feel better if my stomach isn’t busy with food.
One tip that Dave gave me was to ask for the competitors’ prices that are posted on a board inside the store. Wal*Mart’s bananas were 48 cents a pound but Shop-Rite’s were three pounds for 99 cents. I asked for and got 12 pounds of bananas for less than $4. I’ll have to remember that!
After I did my shopping, I got the back of my hair cut. It was about to drive me nuts and Khristie did a good job of straightening it out.
On the way home, I hit BiLo and got a couple of things. One was a butternut squash that I’ll use to try the recipe I found for cookies. I hope it’s as good as it looks.
I got the car unloaded in a misty rain. I looked on WeatherBug and Dayton has gotten less than a quarter inch of rain since midnight.
It was after dark when I got through but I went ahead with my supper. It was a bowl of tomatoes, two peaches, a plum, and a banana smoothie. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much time at all for a supper like that to digest.
It’s getting much later than I wanted it to be but time does have a way of going by. Night!
