I’m about out of steam and am going to go to bed at a decent hour tonight if I don’t do anything else.
Breakfast was a banana, a peach (this one was sweeter), 1/3 avocado, and a boiled egg.
I took another big fruit salad for lunch since I wanted to try a blended salad again this evening and see if I could do better. Banana, grated apple, pineapple, papaya, mango, and a Bosc pear. I took pecans again to round out the meal.
I’d felt pretty energetic this morning but had a slump before lunch. After I ate, I felt better but I had about perked out before it was time to leave work. There was a problem that came up before I could make it out the door so I had to address it, then escape to the car.
I’ve been reading The Raw Secrets by Frederic Patenaude and it makes a lot of sense. I haven’t gotten very far into it but I’ll work on it a little at a time.
My supper was another blended salad, this time by a recipe I got out of Raw Soups, Salads & Smoothies (part of the Raw Food Starter Kit), also by Frederic Patenaude. I didn’t have all the ingredients and it still has to be an acquired taste but it was better and more satisfying than the one last night. I cut down on the amount of ingredients because I didn’t want to have to throw any out. I used two medium tomatoes, a rib of celery, about 1/8 a large onion, romaine, spinach, 1/3 an avocado, and sea salt. I blended that all together in the VitaMix. I tried to mix it with the saliva in my mouth since that’s where digestion starts but I don’t know that it worked really well. I ate some celery sticks after that just to have something to chew. I haven’t been craving anything tonight so I’d have to say that it satisfied my hunger. It was far from being what I would call delicious, though.
My basic problem is, I like to eat. I like food that tastes good, that has texture, and looks good. I enjoy my fruit and fruit salad but baby food is for babies and that’s what a blended salad reminds me of. I think it was invented by someone who didn’t want to take the time to chew their food. The VitaMix has its place but I think that I have about had it with the blended salad.
By the way, I didn’t eat any chocolate when I got home today and I didn’t particularly miss it.
With that, I’m going to sign off.
