Once home, I still didn’t want to be in the house just DD and me. I invited a good friend to bring her sons and spend the night. Two other women dropped in and we were talking about the events while the kids played. All of a sudden, there was a knocking on the front of the house. I went into the greenhouse and looked out. An officer was tapping on the boards. When I went out and asked him what on earth he was doing, he said he was checking for hidden spaces. I guess they thought DH was small enough to hide in the wall? At least they didn’t start taking the house apart, board by board.... Read more

Back when I was in my high school years, I learned some nonsense rhymes. Some of them were for Speech and Journalism and some were ones I happened to find on my own. The ones for S&J served a purpose. The theory was that if we made big enough fools of ourselves in front of the class, we could get up and speak to a group with no problem. I’m not claiming this to be one that was required. I learned this outside of class and it’s taking up space in my brain:... Read more

and I’ve got Twinkle. And fleas. I must say the latter aren’t bothering us. We have brewer’s yeast! We smell savory but we aren’t getting bitten except once in a very great while. I’m not taking it but I’m wearing it. But that isn’t why I’m writing. I’m chronicling the week’s (mis)adventures.... Read more

Several months prior to February, 1986, Kat-the-Dog had managed to get away from us during a dangerous time. She was in heat. When DH found her, she and a neighbor German Shepherd were locked in a doggie embrace. The neighbor dog took off with Kat unwillingly in tow. They awkwardly ran down the hill until they came to a tree. One went right and the other left. When Kat came limping back to the house, she had blood on her hindquarters. We took her to the vet to be examined. On finding out the blood didn’t belong to her, DH said, “Ouch!” The result of the meeting was she was expecting. When the one lone pup was born, she was the image of Kat. DD begged to keep her and named her “Samantha”. I told her she’d have to clean up after her and it was no problem—at first. By and by, the little nuggets became big piles and they weren’t cute any more. Samantha had turned into a mix that was more German Shepherd than Rottweiler.... Read more

I hope. It isn’t an easy task. No one said it would be. I went online and read reams of information and then went and Spent Money. I sprayed Twinkle again with the tea tree oil solution and made her upset with me once more. I hate to think I brought the critters in. Twinkle hasn’t been outside so I can’t blame it on her. The neighbor cat likes to rub against my legs.... Read more

Thursday night came and went with no post because hackers had taken the server down and it didn’t come back up until I was already late for bed. Then last night I had a sore throat for the second night in a row. I decided with the shorter days, I’ll do my weekly update on Current Events on Saturday night. No biggie but I thought an explanation was in order.... Read more

My friend and I have been comparing notes about what we want done with our remains after we have passed on from this Vale of Tears. She has a life insurance policy she has earmarked for her funeral and burial. I don’t. She was planning on the whole nine yards. I’m not. What I have been wanting to do is make arrangements to donate my body to science and I got a step closer to it today. She’s even become interested in the concept.... Read more

Before I get into my every-other-weekly update, I want to acknowledge what would have been my mother’s 104th birthday had she lived to see it. She used to joke that she would live to be 104. She didn’t but she does live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her and loved her. Recently, my sister in the Great Northwest dictated a message to all the sisters from her hospital bed. “I loved growing up in our family with Mother and felt like we never lacked for anything. I loved our Mother very much and miss her, and appreciate the values that she raised us with.” On my way to town, I stopped at her grave and pulled the few weeds the mowers had left behind. As a little extra, I groomed my grandparents’ graves, too.... Read more

Friday night: Must’ve been woefully dehydrated. I was feeling so dizzy I had to bend over and put my head between my knees. At one point, I considered having my neighbor take me to the emergency room but I was sure all I needed was fluids. Even though I felt a little better after I drank the 40 ozzies, I was still weak and everything was slowly revolving around me—even after I went to bed. I tried to relax and go to sleep and was finally successful. During the night, I had to get up and go potty. Standing up too fast brought on the dizziness again so I was cautious and took it slow and easy. Toward morning, I had to “go” again but this time my lightheadedness was gone.... Read more

I’d been eating 100% raw food for barely over five months when Thanksgiving came up. You know what that means. Killing the fatted tofu chicken or fake turkey roll. Those options were lost to me. During DD’s 34 days of eating raw, she made her own version of Joel of rawlifeline’s Un “Meatloaf”. Inspired by her success, I decided to venture forth and try my hand making it for the holiday celebration at DS2’s family’s house.... Read more
