Hey all, first post here.

My question is in regards to substituting raw food for multivitamins, whole food as a
vitamin/mineral source.

I'm curious what types of fruits/vegetables I should be looking at to get my daily dose
of vitamins & minerals.

I was going to purchase the whole food multivitamin from natures way (Alive!).
Should I just do that? I was under the impression that even though it says whole food, that it's
probably not from that source.

Thanks.  Cop

Hello and welcome.  Please feel free to go to the journals section and start a journal for yourself and us.  That way we can get to know you better.

Personally I do not take vitamins aside from massive infusion of Vitamins C, B, folic acid, echinachia, and others from my naturopath, when I have a shingles flare.  When I am eating optimally I do not believe I need to take a man-made, probably synthetic, product to be healthy.  Think about it, how do they get those nutrients into that little tiny pill?  Cook the heck out of everything, distill everything, manufacture everything, whatever, but it's not "real" food no matter what it says on the label.  You can't plant it and grow a vitamin.  Wink

And to take it a step further, how do I know what my body needs?  500m of vitamin C or 5,000?  Same with all the other vitamins and minerals.  And in what combination do I need?  What about all the components that man doesn't even know about in food?

I vote for eating uncooked fruits and vegetables in a wide range of colors.  Gabriel Cousens calls it "The Rainbow Green Raw Food Cuisine".  He has a book by that name and it teaches me how to eat the rainbow.

Hope this doesn't freak you out, but remember, every single one of us has to make our own decisions and I'm sure there are folks on here that will chime in with their thoughts.

Take care and come back often.

Good answer, Shari! Another thought--it can't be whole if it's in a pill. Or powder. So "whole food" is a misnomer. And FROM whole food is, as well. Everything can be FROM something whole originally.

As far as supplements are concerned, I take B-12 because I developed a deficiency without it and D3 because I was deficient in D, too. Because of a cutback at work, I don't get outdoors enough to manufacture it from the sun. I have to stay inside and do backup for the others.

I agree with Shari. Start a journal and tell us all about yourself.

Lots of raw foods are available that has contained multivitamins which needed for human body to keep it healthy and fit. There are so many vegetables, fruits, sprouts, sea vegetables, herbs, nuts and edible foods those are good to eat for providing multivitamin to human body.
