When I was moved in the third bedroom of the house, the doorway from the hall was completely filled by the door. There was no way to close it without cutting off my oxygen supply and that wouldn’t be good. I found that I could go out the door, into the bathroom and then into the bedroom from the bath and I was okay. A little awkward since I’d have to do it every night and then undo it every morning but I didn’t mind.
This evening, Cuz and my CIL took the door off, cut less than an inch off the bottom and rehung it — all in the space of a few minutes. I’d told Cuz I’d been “threading the needle” before but now I wouldn’t have to. They are just so handy with tools!! Talented, no less.
It’s been an eventful day. The man from satellite Internet called and left voice mail on my Magic Jack. I’d asked the girl I’d talked to yesterday to use my CIL’s cell phone number I’d entered on my information but they still insisted on using the number associated with my card. Oh, well. He asked if it would be okay if he came earlier. He’d had a cancellation. Not surprising that someone had second thoughts. I told him yes, that would be fine.
I’d already told them the satellite was to be mounted on a post but he wanted to put it in the middle of the back yard. Cuz told him no way and directed him to a different spot where it would be less obtrusive. The web site had said installation might take up to two and a half hours. I don’t think it took him more than one. He sent the paperwork in for me to initial and sign but I refused until I had a chance to try it out. The difference was like night and day so I willingly completed the form. Verizon doesn’t show up on the list any more and that’s great. I guess Cuz will take the little hotspot back tomorrow.
She did check the data usage and it was 1.8 GB since Sunday. It would have been more if it had worked but it’s nice to know that I was able to stream a couple of TV episodes and do Facebook and email and not use a lot. I watched a few youtube clips about the walkie talkies Cuz has, too. And did my online devotions.
Speaking of which — my computer’s blue screen happened when I’d written my comment for the devotional site but hadn’t posted it. I was so rattled, I failed to go back and do it and people were really concerned about me. Some of them read my blog so they reassured everyone else that I’m still alive and kicking even though it isn’t very fast or very high. It’s nice to know so many people care.
My almost lifelong friend came this afternoon and stayed for a good visit. She’d brought me food from a group meeting she’d been to at her church but failed to remember I’m vegan. There’s a yummy-looking casserole that is sure to have dairy and dairy and I don’t get along at all.
She also brought the Ginseng UP and wouldn’t let me pay her for it. I didn’t mean for her to do that but it was nice. There were only three bottles on the shelf so someone had to get the rest from the back. After she left, I had a bottle. I don’t drink it very often but I do enjoy it now and then.
There was another big meal at supper. Cuz heated up the rest of the veggie bowl from the other night and the veggies my friend had brought along with peas and mashed potatoes. I was able to eat most of the veggie bowl, the veggies (except for the carrots — they had a strange texture), all of the potatoes and all but a bite of peas. I think I did pretty well.
Tomorrow is going to be another big day. That’s especially for Cuz. She is going to try to load up the Catz and bring them down. There used to be two carriers but she could only locate one. I can just see her cramming half a dozen Catz in the carrier while trying to keep them from getting out. I think she’s going to need help. And I’m wondering how Mongo is going to react to the invasion.
Two more days and DD will be here! I could be like my sister from the Great Northwest and start crying now because she’ll be leaving the next Sabbath.
