Oh, and a couple of mangoes, too, that I’m sure are Tommy Atkins. Maybe they’ll taste good, in spite of that, when they get ripe. I can hope.
Day before yesterday, Cuz brought me some more sweet potatoes and and four ears of corn. If nothing else, I won’t die of starvation.
Last night was a good night for sleeping. I coughed some but not nearly as much as I might have thought after reading the After Care. I woke early, took my thyroid med and went back to sleep for another hour or two.
Cuz had told me she’d be here “late morning or early afternoon”. When the knock came on the door, I knew it wasn’t her because she knows how to ring the doorbell. It was the man from the DME supplier with my O2 tanks. I had him leave eight plus he replaced the kinking tubing leading from the concentrator. He told me about some cannulas they have now that are softer and less irritating than the ones I have currently. He left me several to try but, since the one I’m using is only a couple of days old, I’ll wait.
Picking his brain, I asked what portable O2 would be the best. He advised me that my insurance paid so little, they don’t fill those orders. I asked what he’d advise if I were to purchase outright. He said that would be the Inogen. He said the portables have to work as hard as the large home concentrators and the Inogens last longer. I thanked him and he left after I signed the form I’d received the tanks.
It wasn’t long before Cuz came in bearing my latest grocery order. When asked, she said she’d have to add it up from the receipt and let me know. When she did, she said it was “about $8” but wouldn’t take a check. She said she still hadn’t cashed the last one. I told her I could pay her in change but she didn’t want that, either.
After the men crawled out of bed at late o’clock, they got ready and left for the other house. She did remind me that she’s just a phone call away. That’s if she hasn’t left her phone in the truck or she doesn’t have a signal or she hasn’t turned it off.
Thankfully, she fed the Catz before she left. It will be up to me tomorrow. And the compost kettle will no doubt be full by then, too.
She’d asked me about avocados. I think the theory regarding the care and keeping of avocados by putting them fully unripe in the fridge, then taking them out when needed to ripen is all wet. The last couple I’ve had, had to be discarded except for, maybe, four bites each. Live and learn. It only works if they aren’t left for many weeks instead of just two or three.
Well, the rest of my day has been spent watching silly videos that I didn’t finish and a couple I did. Here’s where we all rest.
