Recovering

When this election season first started and there were umpteen candidates on the GOP side, I remember telling Cuz that the nominee would probably end up being either Cruz or Rubio but definitely not Trump. No way, nohow would that ever happen. Well, it’s almost certain that it will be. The convention is still two and a half months away and a lot can happen in that length of time. As my sister said, “Who knows how it will turn out? Only One, and He’s not telling!”

The other day, I saw an article on Fox News website. Now, this is the conservative-leaning, GOP embracing organization, right? The title was “Any republican who thinks its better to elect Trump than Hillary needs their head examined”. I was amazed.

Today, my computer was getting bogged down (I guess it’s been over a week since it’s been restarted) so I shut Chrome down for a bit and then opened it again. I have it set to resume where I left off. The article, A message for my fellow Republicans: If you back Trump you will not be trusted again came up. Most of it is word for word the original. A little had been added to update it and the title was changed. If you look at the URL, it’s the same as the original.

And now we’re mourning John Kasich suspending his campaign.

John Kasich

On the GOP side, he was the voice of reason. I could agree with a lot of his stances on policy though it did bitterly disappointment me when he defunded Planned Parenthood in Ohio, depriving thousands of families needed health services. He advised everyone to move on where legislation regarding the rights of LGBT citizens had passed and said that he’d do away with the Bathroom Bill if he were governor.

Now, we’re left with the Tangerine Terror, the Builder of All Things YUUUUUUUGE. The former Presidents Bush are briefly in the news. They won’t endorse Drumpf. A lot of others will follow their lead but many are already caving.

Kasich, a class act, was as gracious during his final speech as he was in the campaign. The full transcript can be found here but I want to quote just the last part:

Throughout my campaign I have said the Lord may have another purpose for me, and it set all the pundits a-twitter. Does that mean he is not committed or he is not focused or he’s not energetic? It showed to some degree how little they understand about life. You see, I have always said that the Lord has a purpose for me as he has for everyone, and as I suspend my campaign today, I have renewed faith, deeper faith that the Lord will show me the way forward and fulfill the purpose of my life.

That’s what any of us should want.

If people would only open their minds and become informed about the issues at stake for America! But that takes time and effort, and the risk of learning things not wanted to be learned.

I think this cycle has been observed by more people than usual. Whether they are informed or not is another thing.
