Remember the commercial, “Like sending your sinuses to Arizona”? That could be my house today. I’d turned the pot of water down so it would steam but not boil away. It had boiled dry twice during one night and I didn’t want that to happen again. Minimum humidity for comfort is 44% according to one of my weather stations. It got down to 40% today and my nose started getting dry and uncomfortable. Since I turned the burner under the pot of water up, the humidity has crept up to 43%. A bit more moisture in the air makes it feel warmer, too.
Speaking of warmer, it ain’t outside. It’s just under 27 degrees and that isn’t warm in anyone’s book. I remember when the temperature would get up to freezing in Nebraska after being in the single digits and below for weeks. It would seem like t-shirt weather. Well, I’m not in Nebraska any more. Besides, we dressed for the weather out there and I don’t have the insulated boots and related gear that I did then.
Cuz and her BIL were long gone when I got up this morning. I don’t know if they are going to try to make the trip in less than 24 hours or if they’ll sleep tonight and come back tomorrow. I’ve thought about texting her but I don’t like being a distraction, either.
Today hasn’t been very productive. I took the first 40 mg Nexium. It may be my imagination but it does seem to have helped. I haven’t coughed quite as much. We’ll see how I do at bedtime. Last night, I had a particularly trying episode. Seems to hit after I fly up. I can go all night, then, without coughing. It’s strange.
I’ve made good use of the hot water bottle. When I was making the bed late this morning, the spot where it was, was still warm. It was at least 12 hours, if not more, since I’d filled it.
DD emailed around 5 to see if it would be okay to call later. I told her that was fine. I wasn’t quite through eating when the phone rang but it was no biggie. Her SO’s car is on a ship that’s somewhere in the Panama Canal now. They’d have to pay for tracking so someone who has a car on the same freighter is posting updates on its progress. It’s moving so slowly, it seems not to move at all. I guess it’s kind of like watching the hands on a clock.
DD was concerned about Thanksgiving. I told her I’d had an invitation but I was turning it down. I prefer to stay home and cough rather than go somewhere and cough. I can eat mac ‘n’ cheese and peas here, anyway.
I’d emailed DD an announcement from the bulletin. The Computer Owner is getting married. Her intended has been coming to church with her for several weeks and she seems very happy. I hope he’s her Knight in Shining Armor and he stays that way forevermore. With my luck, it would tarnish but maybe hers will pan out.
This is one of those nights I’d love to take a bath but it isn’t to be. I stick my clothes in the dryer to warm them up. It’d be nice if I could do my feet the same way.
