Moving Slowly

Melatonin helped me sleep more soundly last night but it’s slowed me down today. I haven’t felt nearly as perky as in the days gone by but I do need my sleep.

This afternoon, the doorbell rang. I was surprised to see Cuz standing there. She usually lets me know when she’s coming this way but I’d heard nothing. She updated me on what she had going on. She’d had another garage sale and hoped to have netted enough to finish a project.

I brought up the subject of the kitchen light and she promised to bring her construction partner by if he were up to it. He’s a licensed electrician and she was sure he would be able to diagnose the problem. She was due in the valley in half an hour to look at a job so she didn’t linger.

Late in the afternoon after I’d finished supper, I was thinking they probably weren’t going to come by. I opened the door to check on the Catz and saw the vehicles in the driveway. It wasn’t long until they came over. Cuz said she’d rung the doorbell three times but I hadn’t heard it. I tried it and, sure enough, it didn’t work. I tried it again and that time, it rang. I hope it isn’t going on the fritz.

While Cuz went to the bathroom to get my screwdriver, her partner went to the kitchen and took the tape off the switch. I put it there to keep from automatically turning the light off at night. He asked several questions and then proceeded to take the cover off. Once, he stuck the screwdriver in and drew a shower of sparks. He’s tentatively ruled out the switch as the culprit.

Cuz will bring up whatever equipment they need to solve the problem one day soon. In the meantime, I guess it’s melatonin for me.

My sister emailed she’d bought apples to make sauce. At first, she wrote they were $1 a bushel but corrected it before sending. She figured they might have been that cheap during the Great Depression. I looked it up and one man had sold a lot of 400 boxes of apples for $2 a box. I would imagine he would have sold them singly for a bit more. That’s still mighty little.

The same sister suggested I stoop instead of bend over to lessen the chance of reflux. To me, they are pretty much one and the same. Maybe she meant “squat”. Well, I squat around and I still have reflux. I’ve been taking the extra dose of Prilosec and it doesn’t seem to be helping. I just took some chewable papaya enzyme tablets. Maybe they’ll tame it.

Thinking here (which is dangerous). If Prilosec stops the acid but not the reflux, what good is it doing? Is there anything, other than surgery, that will stop the reflux? Tell me, please. I want to know.

That’s why I don’t take Melatonin! I do have a Melatonin cream that i rub on my temples sometimes when I’m having trouble sleeping. I can’t guarantee that it helps a lot, but at least it doesn’t hurt.

I take liquid melatonin so I can adjust the dose. I think I took too much. I’m moving better today. 🙂

I cut the pills into small pieces, so took a fraction of a dose, but still had the droopy reaction later.
