“It Will Gwow”

I hadn’t opened my eyes yet when the clock chimed 8. It was later than I planned to get up, so I hopped out of bed.

I’d thought I’d go to town yesterday but didn’t make it so I planned to go today. First, I would have my B12 injection and go after that.

Something had come up with my nurse friend and she was at the vet with some puppies. It took her far longer than she’d hoped so it was after I’d had breakfast and a bath before she got here. She took care of shooting me and was on her way.

I quickly changed my clothes and set out.

My hair has been too long for several weeks but I didn’t ever seem to hit it just right to get it cut. Today, one of the hairdressers was available so I signed in. She has to be new because I’d never seen her before. When she wanted to know how I wanted my hair cut, I told her it was clipped up the back with the next-to-the-largest guard.

Before I realized what was happening, she was clipping it ‘way up the back—much farther than usual—and going on to the sides. It was done before I had much of a chance to say anything and she moved on to the top but, this time, it was with scissors. It’s very short up there, too. I was reminded of the time my sister got her hair cut and was told, “It will gwow.” It will, but maybe not as quickly as I would like.

At least I had a coupon for the haircut and got it for $9.99 instead of the usual $15.

I cruised through the store and got the things I needed and some that weren’t on my list. There were bins of beautiful corn for 20 cents an ear so I got a couple.

When I got home and had everything unloaded and put away, I took most of the shucks off one ear of corn and put it in a very hot oven while I ate my leftover noodles and pinto beans. When the shucks were black all over, I took it out and finished shucking it. It was so good, I ate it without adding anything. I was reminded why I don’t eat corn on the cob in public. It gets stuck in my teeth and I pretty much end up with it all over my face. It surely was good, though. The other ear is in the fridge for later.

I need to go drink another 16 ozzies of water before it gets any later. That will help me to get my exercise tonight, especially after I top THAT off with another 8 ozzies.

Unless I’m mistaken, your hair grows fast, so maybe before long it will be just right.

I also got a would-be Indian maiden last time who scalped me, taking all my perm away, as well as cutting it too short in the back. Fortunately, mine “gwows” fast, too.

Mine looks halfway reasonable today. Maybe it will be okay.
