Just when I thought there would be little exciting to report, BAM! things changed.
The day had been pretty routine for a Tuesday. I’d had breakfast and showered in preparation for the visit from my friend who is coming over and giving me my B-12 shots. Cuz had been here in the meantime and said she’d be back.
The shot was as expertly done as it had been last week and, after visiting a bit, she was on her way.
The rest of the day was ho-hum except for the conversation with Cuz. She is having a Memorial Day celebration at the other house up the valley and wants me to come. I told her I’d think about it. I’m not huge on celebrations, anyway, but I’ll see. I might surprise everyone and go.
The only other thing of interest was my exercising which I did because today is Tuesday. Woohoo.
I’d been out to the deck and admired my pitiful attempt at growing cilantro in a planter box when one of the Catz starting begging for attention. I went over to another planter box and was looking it over when the animal decided getting closer was advised. She jumped up into the box. I had the sprinkling can in my hand so I gave her a sprinkling to let her know that wasn’t a good thing. She jumped down and knocked the box off the railing and onto my right foot. Dirt went everywhere and I used a word I never say.
Coming in the house, I got the broom and swept up as much of the dirt as I could then came back in and got my little brush and dustpan. I put the plants back in the planter, replaced the dirt and watered it well.
I figured my toes were dirty and they were but that’s not all. Three of them are swollen and two are showing signs of bruising. I knew I should’ve gone to town today. Off and on, I can feel pain up into my ankle. I don’t think anything is broken and the pain isn’t excruciating but it doesn’t feel good. I doubt that I should roam Walmart until it’s better.
A little while ago, I looked out and one of the Catz was lying on the cilantro sprouts. When I shooed it out, I kept a firm hold on the box. I watered the plants and hope they come back okay. My sister has rabbits and groundhogs and I have Catz.
Well, I’m out of just about everything fresh. No bananas, no mangoes, no pineapple and not likely to go get any, any time soon. I put my sandals in the washer and limped around until I found my other pair. It’s nice to have extra.
A faint sour smell has been emanating from the washer. The vinegar/soda fix lasted for maybe three days. I gave up and gave it a good rinse with bleach and hope that takes care of it. I’ve read that high efficiency washers are prone to such. Too bad. This one is so good, otherwise.
Should I give up on growing anything? I just spied one of the Catz lying in the box with my basil. I grabbed the spray bottle and it fled. Fortunately, the box stayed put. I’ve sprayed all the boxes and the railings and hope that will deter them. I had one little bag of moth balls so I took them and put them on the railings. That will probably keep the hummingbirds away, too, but I just had one and I haven’t seen it for more than a week. Friday is the day I’m bringing the feeders in and giving up. So much for animals.
I’m hopeful that my toes won’t keep me awake tonight. At least the skin isn’t broken.
