Vegan Oatmeal Burgers*

These are aka Super Duper Gut Bombs. They’d be good with a little “heat” added to kick ’em up a notch.

Super Duper Gut Bombs

5 C water
5 C quick oats (can be a mix of rolled and Irish cut)
1/3 C Bragg Liquid Aminos
1/3 C oil
1 T onion powder
2 T onion flakes
1 Tsp garlic powder
1 Tsp Italian seasoning (I use more)
1/2 Tsp kala namak (Indian black salt available from Amazon). (Himalayan pink can be substituted but the flavor will be different.)
(Optional) 8 oz fresh mushrooms, roughly chopped or
3/4 C nuts (I use pecan pieces)

Measure water into a large pan (I use a four quart). Add all ingredients except for the oats and bring to a boil. Slowly stir in oats, turn the heat down and let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Form into patties and bake on cookie sheets sprayed with oil at 350 for 45 minutes. Turn over halfway through baking time to brown evenly on both sides.

Depending on the size, yield is anywhere from 20-30 patties. They freeze well. I sometimes put two to a sandwich bag and then put all the bags in a gallon freezer bag. Reheat in the oven, skillet or (if you’re brave and they’re big enough) toaster.
