Last night was another rough one. I delayed turning on my left side until it was too late and Stuff was moving up in my esophagus. When I did try turning, it was worse than staying on my back. That wasn’t saying much because staying on my back was impossible.
I got up and fooled around on the computer for an hour and considered spending the night sitting in my chair. When I went back to bed, I coughed until I almost upchucked. Something’s gotta give.
Months ago, I saw a TV show where the LINX was used to solve reflux. I’ve been doing some research on it and came across this article on NPR. The picture is amazing—not so much for the LINX but the hairiness of that man’s arm is something else.
I’m not sure my insurance would pay for the procedure. First of all, I would have had to try all the other avenues to take care of the problem. Then it costs $18-20,000. Another thing to consider is I don’t know that it’s done anywhere nearby. It’s been used successfully in areas of the world that are ahead of the US both in health coverage and technology.
In the meantime, the wedge pillow arrived. The box was a lot flatter than I expected for a 12″ thick pillow at its highest point. When I opened it, I found out why. It was rolled up like a sausage. I guess that’s so no one would be able to return it.
I read on the label to unwrap it immediately on its receipt (which I did) and it would naturally return to its original shape (it did). It also said to put it in a well-ventilated area and let it air out to remove the chemical smell. Though it’s said not to be toxic, there’s a notice that some people might be sensitive to it. Farther on, it said the cover could be removed to speed the process. So…I don’t know when I’ll be able to try out The Wedge.
Well, Twinkle’s food came today. She hasn’t eaten much of it but she seems more interested in it than in anything else I’ve given her lately. I’m wondering if maybe she’s the “canary in the coal mine” and something in this house is killing her before it kills me. She tried to jump up on my lap a couple of hours ago and couldn’t make it. I didn’t try to pick her up because that’s something she absolutely doesn’t like.
My CIL was home this morning. I’m glad because I didn’t feel like coping with Animals. My nose isn’t as runny as it was yesterday. I was so tired from last night’s non-restful sleep that I didn’t wake until after 8:30 and that is unusual for me.
I’m so glad Cyber Monday is almost over. It’s been one email after another from places I usually hear from once a week, if that often. Thankfully, I have filters set up so they stay out of my inbox.
