Am I a Carnivore?

Comparing the two sensors is interesting. The one that has lived on the end of the house for years registers anywhere from three to 13 degrees warmer than the one that’s sheltered from the sun. I knew it couldn’t be as hot as the thermometer said but there was no way to prove it until now—other than qualifying it with “in the sun”. Now I need to figure out where to put the inaccurate one. Well, it’s inaccurate through no fault of its own.

I’ve done chores and fed animals. The sugar babies don’t seem to like baby food carrots but that’s what’s there to feed them. I had to clean their bowls. They’re nasty little things. They think nothing of pooping in the dishes they eat out of. When I fill them, I try to put them out of the line of fire and not have them beneath exercise wheels or something but it’s hard to gauge. I gave them more of their dry treats to make up for their lack of enthusiasm for the carrots.

Supper was interesting. I put some broccoli I’d washed, cut up and stored in the fridge in a bowl to try to cook in the microwave. I don’t generally do that but the pans I use were in the dishwasher.

It was obvious it wasn’t going to work so I took it out of the bowl and put it in a little saucepan. When everything was transferred, only one thing was left in the bottom of the bowl—a big fat worm! I examined the rest of the florets closely and found another very small worm.

I went ahead and cooked the broccoli but you can be sure I examined it as I ate. Mother didn’t like to eat broccoli because of worms. It really isn’t bad to harbor them but she stood her ground.

One thing I did was spend a lot of time getting the bulletin for last week lined up to publish as a pdf on a site set up by a former member. He’d seen that I was copying it and pasting it into my Facebook group and offered space so it could be done right. Over the years, the template I set up has kind of meandered around. I didn’t want to display it publicly the way it looked so I worked on it for an hour or so and it’s better.

I hope having the bulletin online will encourage people to get their info in on time so there’s no TBA. Actually, if I find the bulletin isn’t complete, I won’t publish it. Now that I’ve straightened it up, maybe it won’t take as long next time to get it presentable. I can hope.

One of the SSNet volunteers lives in South Africa. He emailed today that his nephew wants to do an Android app for the lessons. I told him I’m not the one to make the decision but if he did one for Android, that would necessitate doing one for iOs, too. Then I asked about the helps and he said he uploaded 1-6 last weekend. Back to the salt mines.

DS2 called this afternoon to ask about where Mother was born. Seems my DIL is working on our family tree. He wanted to know his granny’s granny’s name so I told him and gave him the name of her husband. Then I told him my grandmother’s father and my father-in-law’s father were brothers and started down the line. That about blew my DIL’s mind. She yelled she wanted an annulment. No telling what she’ll find out that she might just as soon not know.

Now that I’m trying to put off going to town until I have a credit card for someone to compromise, Twinkle has decided she’ll up her intake. She’d eaten more than a fourth can of food by this afternoon. That’s twice as much as she was eating in 24 hours back in December.

My sister wants suggestions for preparing eggplant. The other one was asking about what kind of brown rice I buy. I was surprised to find that heirloom forbidden rice is available at the next Walmart down the road. When I’m traveling in that direction, I’ll have to stop and invest in some. It’s supposed to have more antioxidants than blueberries. I think I’ve used all I had in the freezer. Maybe I should check.

I failed to drink my pint of water this morning. I’d better not make that a habit.

Cannot believe you actually still have and use a microwave! Take the pan out of the dishwasher and wash it!! Please don’t be putting your health at risk using that machine.
