My! I’m getting old! It was 42 years ago today that DH and I were married in my mother’s living room a mere three or four miles from where I sit. But I need to cover other ground first.
Hopefully, I have learned my lesson re: eating a quantity of chocolate too late in the afternoon. I had dozed fitfully until after midnight when I got up and soaked in the tub. I was back in bed in a half hour but still couldn’t go to sleep. I came into the living room and fooled around on the computer until almost 3 when I went to bed again and this time, off to sleep. Trouble is, I woke before 7, got up and took my thyroid med and it was back to bed to see if I could catch a bit more shut-eye. Nope. I lay there for half an hour before I gave up and got up.
I’ve been awake ever since and feel like I’ve been hit by a Mack truck. When I go to bed tonight, I don’t think I’ll have any trouble regarding staying awake.
Besides the anniversary of my marriage, it is also the day I add $10 to my T-mobile account to keep it active for another year. It’s a sad state of affairs, I know, but I have no idea what my cell phone number is. After I searched my email for several minutes, I remembered it’s in my Google Voice settings. I called and the deed was done fairly quickly. My balance is something over 190 minutes. Most of those will roll over on my 2015 anniversary date.
DH called and we had a good visit. His next birthday is the big half-century mark. When I asked what he wants, he said a 7200 RPM 1T external drive. Yep. That would be nice but a bit out of my budget. I contacted my DIL and she gave me a different suggestion.
The peaches were still not to a good eating stage so, with the help of Marie Callender crusts, I turned four of them into pie. I didn’t put enough sugar and the crust is ‘way too rich for my taste. What’s done is done.
I warmed up the rest of the zucchini I’d cooked with tomatoes, onion, garlic and Italian seasoning and had sat down to have it with a tomato and onion sandwich when the doorbell rang. It was my cousin, back from her trip to Florida. She sat down and told me about her adventures and misadventures while she was gone. One of her friends has a coconut palm so she brought several back and she plans to share with me once she gets them husked.
Twinkle and I have been plenty warm today. It got up past 85 in the kitchen while the oven was on and it’s currently 81 where I’m sitting. The temps are supposed to get into the 60s tonight. The way I feel, I could curl up in a skillet and go to sleep so the heat shouldn’t bother me.
Tomorrow, the longest yard sale in the world starts. I always dreaded it when I was working because it went right through town. Even though we’re off the beaten path up here, people are set up on our highway, too. According to Weatherbug, storms are supposed to be bumping about from Friday through Tuesday. We’ll see.
