Hair Today, Gone Today

I used to be able to set my clock and calendar by DD’s call. Promptly at 2 p.m. my time on Sunday afternoon, the phone would ring. Not any more. Not since That Boy came into her life. I must say he’s in the process of making a good impression on me. Anyone who treats my daughter as well as he does must be very nice. Someone on Facebook referred to him as “a keeper” when DD posted a picture of his Valentine’s Day gift to her—or part of it.

Valentine's Day Bouquet

He had never done origami before but he made the arrangement and, as a finishing touch, he wrote one thing he loves about DD on each of the flowers. He also made her chocolate-dipped strawberries. One of these days, I’ll see if I can get permission to post the two of them together.

It was a nice day today and relatively warm. The car needed gas and one of the things I hate to do is fill it up in cold weather. I do miss the neighborhood gas station! I took a bath and got ready to go.

I wanted to get that dreaded deed out of the way so it was my first stop. The tank held over $30 worth and my mpg came in at just under 35.

Checking in at the beauty shop, I was told it would be 45 minutes at least before I could get a hair cut. I started gathering my purchases and when the time came, I went back to see if I could get in yet. I was told to have a seat so I picked up a style book and leafed through it. Nothing appealed to me.

The hairdresser finished up with one person and started in on a young man’s hair. I had plenty of time to look. There was a ragged picture that looked interesting. I pulled it out and AHHH!! that was it! I have a hard time getting across just how short I want my hair so when she came to get me, I showed her the style and told her that’s what I wanted. She warned me that it was cut with clippers in the back. That was fine. I wanted short.

She started cutting and cut and cut and cut. Even with all that, I think it’s a bit long on top. I may have to take some more off. I set the tripod up and took some pictures of ME. One of the forum members has been wanting to see a recent one so these should satisfy her.

Hi thar!

I wanted it spiked but she had it kind of curving back.

I need to use some of that stuff to keep my scalp from shining through. This also shows my turkey neck as does the next one.

Bad side

Worse side

Just me

I had been so proud of myself price matching strawberries at Walmart. My cousin had left me a private message on Facebook this morning that they were headed this way and should be here around dark-thirty. The doorbell rang and when I opened the door, here’s what she was holding along with a bag of oranges and one of tangerines.

Strawberries!

I don’t know what on earth I’m going to do with all of them. I ate one of the ones I bought and one of these. They’re all huge. I have instant clear jel so maybe I’ll make some freezer jam. I don’t know if I have enough jelly jars, though. I’ll have to see.

My Facebook friends have nothing on Twinkle and me. One posted a picture of a dog sitting in her place on the couch after she got up. When I went into the kitchen a while ago, here’s what I found when I got back:

She got my seat.

Genese had posted a comment about her granddaughters’ faces when they tried the chocolate mousse and their experience at her mother’s house. Today, her daughter private messaged me:

We left the nursing home for Granny’s house and when we got there she gave the girls chocolate bars. Hershey’s DARK chocolate. They each took a bite made faces and one exclaimed to the other “what is wrong with chocolate today!?” The other says “i don’t know but I don’t want anymore.” I was laughing so hard I really couldn’t say which one said what.. Poor girls..

Suppose they’ll swear off chocolate forever? That’ll leave more for us!

I think Genese has gone on strike as far as Wordscraper is concerned. It’s been four days AGAIN since I last played. Maybe she’s afraid of losing…

    You look good Tommie!:-)

If only we felt the same way about chocolate as the girls do about dark chocolate!;-)

Thanks, Terry! It was just for you! And I did once feel that way about chocolate but I got over it. 😀

I like your new hair style better than the previous one. Of course, I’d prefer it longer, but it’s a lot easier to take care of than my regular bout with curlers! There should be something in between, but I haven’t found it.

The strawberries are beautiful! Sorry I can’t help you demolish them.

You ort to see my hair today. No…on second thought…My hair isn’t as thick as yours so longer translates to stringy.

They ARE beautiful but they aren’t like good ol’ summer ones.

I’d say DD’s boyfriend is a born romantic – like we used to say about our mother. Must make her feel like a queen!

      She’s enjoying it, for sure!
