Week 7, Day 5

The dishes are done and I feel like I am, too. It hasn’t been a full, busy day but I’m ready to call it, anyway. I do have 5,443 steps on my pedometer which is half what I should. Last night, I rested well but not as early as I hoped. It was 9 when I finished my post and I crawled into bed at 9:40.

When I got up, the outside temp was 36. My bedroom was 51. I’ve had the Dr. Heater on all day and supplemented it with the heat from the oven for several hours this morning. I hate to see winter come but that’s the way things work in this part of the country. I’m not moving so I’ll have to deal with it.

Friday, I called the produce place in town and was told I could pick up a box of oranges today. They close on Sunday now, as of September, but one of the ladies and her little girl assistant met me at 12:45 TT. We were supposed to meet at 1 but we both got there early and I was on my way to Walmart by 12:55.

I saw four friends while I was there—one ex-work friend from the hospital, two Facebook friends who work at Walmart and the housesitter. My ex-work friend passed by while I was talking to one of the Facebook friends. I figure she saw me and wasn’t keen on my seeing her but I recognized the back of her head. I located her at one of the checkouts. She said she’s been reading about my trials and tribulations. I told her that, on top of everything else, I seem to have acid reflux. She wondered why and I told her it seems to be quite common. Less common is bile reflux but it would be just my luck to develop that, too.

At any rate, I got some OTC Prilosec equivalent and, starting tomorrow, will take it for 14 days and see if that helps. When I saw the housesitter, she said she takes it twice a day every day. I hope it won’t come to that. It isn’t expensive for a 14 day supply but it could run into some money taking it that often.

When I got home, there were two missed calls from DD. I sent her a text message (no, I don’t text but I can do it from Google Voice) letting her know I was back. After I’d gotten unloaded and put everything away, she called. She and a friend had gone to Whidbey Island. They were wandering around Coupeville, I think she said. It was hard to understand her on her cell phone. They seemed to be having a good time and we only talked for about 20 minutes.

Injectable B-12 still isn’t available around here except in one dose vials so I’m wearing patches. I put one on today and I hope it does the job.

Twinkle is on her warming pad. She’d rather be on my lap but I can’t type when she is. I’ll take my lap and the temptation away and go heat water for my hot water bottle. Maybe I won’t splash it on me this time. That boiling water smarts.

Tommie, not to rain on your parade, but won’t boiling water disintegrate the rubber of the hot water bottle? I can get mine plenty warm without water that hot.

The one merm gave me isn’t rubber. It’s thermoplastic. The brand is Fashy. It’s covered in a dark blue material that helps hold the heat. I have a rubber one, too, that stays in the closet in the bathroom. 🙂
