And On the Eighth Day

It’s been a long time coming but I think I’ve finally turned a corner. I did sleep well last night from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. That was eight hours. I chose not to get up then but eventually went back to sleep and slept until 6:30.

An hour later, I went outside and got some figs for my breakfast. My CIL hasn’t been picking them and there were a lot of ‘way overripe ones.

After my shower I put on shorts for the first time. They are very soft and not tight at all so I’ve been comfortable.

There was another EOB from Humana in the mailbox. This one had no co-pay so that’s good. On the way back, I saw a lot of brush-cutting my cousin has done. Seems she has succeeded in getting rid of the vine that was trying to take over the house, too.

I’ve done a bit more today than before but I’ve been careful not to overdo it. Of course, tomorrow will tell the tale about whether or not I have.

There was a utility truck down the road making all sorts of noise. I don’t know if they are setting new poles to the end of the road but there was one lying at the edge of the yard across the street. That is the biggest post hole digger I’ve ever seen. In this rocky soil, it’s a necessity, though.

The editor got in touch with me and asked if I felt up to doing the index for Q4 lessons. I’d done it in mid-August but hadn’t uploaded it yet. I sent it on and asked her to let me know if any corrections were needed. Yes, there were a few. I did those and uploaded the corrected version.

On up in the afternoon, I went back out to pick some more figs. My CIL saw me and came out to help. I chided him for not doing his job keeping the ripe ones picked. He said he’d had one this morning. ONE?? He heaped up my left hand and I came back in before I wouldn’t be able to open the door. This was my prelude to supper.

A Figgy Appetizer

My vitamin/mineral supplement came today. I took it straight up. It says to mix with my favorite juice but I don’t want to ruin the juice. I asked how long it would take for me to feel like hunting bears with a switch but I’ve gotten no reply.

Besides taking the compost out, fixing meals, eating, washing dishes and taking care of Twinkle, I spent a large part of the day watching Samsara. It’s very interesting, disturbing, and entertaining, all at once, and there’s not one word of dialog.

Tomorrow is DS1’s 49th birthday. I called and told him in my best Granny-like voice, “This is the laaaaaast night you’ll ever be 48.” He said he had wondered if he would be getting that phone call. Oh, and that’s HIS granny, my mother. Not me.

In the morning, my Mii will probably fuss at me. I changed my height from 5’3″ to 5’2″ since that’s how tall my cousin says I am. That will increase my BMI and, as it was, my Mii would say I needed to weigh 124.1 lubs. Where the .1 comes in, I don’t know. She’s been jumping for joy but tomorrow she’ll no doubt frown and say, “That’s overweight.”

The chores are done. Not all of them by a long shot but all I’m going to do today. I’m tired but I’m not exhausted. As usual, my sisters are outworking me but I guess it isn’t a contest. If it were, I’d surely lose.

Glad you’re feeling better and able to harvest and enjoy those figs. They look good, and I ‘spect they were.

you forgot the half, according to the mark and the writing on the wall, you are 5′ 2 1/2 ” and really glad to hear you feeling some better.

I thought you measured me at 5’2″, Donna. At any rate, there’s no way to put half inches in my profile on the Wii. And my Mii was frowning this morning. Even though I’d only gained .2 lub, my BMI shot up. I was hoping to go grocery shopping today but after getting out and picking figs, I’m already pooped. I’ll live.

Lila, the figs are very good and add another fresh element to my diet. I do have a banana left so with that plus figs and tomatoes from the plants my CIL planted, I’m blessed. Oh, and I do have a very few oranges. Almost forgot those.

The figs look yummy! Glad you are able to do some harvesting, and spend some time outside. My tomatoes from the garden are gone, so I’m back to plastic ones. Better than none!

If you can find Campari tomatoes, they taste like good ol’ summertime ones. They cost a bit more but they’re worth it.
