It’s just by chance that it’s a Mother’s Day Giveaway. Honestly, I didn’t plan it this way. It just happened. You don’t have to be a mother to enter. You don’t even have to be female. You just have to play by the rules and who knows? You just might win! This is a very special giveaway. Shari, my forum moderator, had ordered the book, fresh (by Sergei and Valya Boutenko), only to find she already had it. Rather than give it away, sell it or send it back, she donated it for yet another Awesome Rawsome Giveaway. Thank you, Shari!
I’ve had this book for about two months now, but it took me all of two minutes after I opened the package to know I had to have it for myself. I sat down at the computer and ordered it immediately. There is a wealth of information in its pages from a history of how the Boutenkos started eating raw to a section on traveling with raw food to edible weeds PLUS much more and over 250 recipes to boot! Now, I must say that not all of the recipes are ones I’d use but there are plenty there I would. Who needs more than a dozen or two, anyway?
Most of the recipes have easily obtained ingredients and they don’t have a gazillion, either. The only one I have seen that has more than I’d want to tackle is borscht. The ones I have perused aren’t heavy on advance preparation, which is a breath of “fresh” air.
It’s a beautiful book, worthy of anyone’s (not just raw folk’s) collection. The back is very plain, worthy of something as classy as this.
The Boutenkos are masterful with their presentation.
And now for the rules. You guessed it! This is another one of those you have to contribute a raw vegan recipe to qualify for the giveaway. It can’t be a recipe that has appeared on this blog or the forum. It can be an optimal 80-10-10 recipe or Atkins raw or anything in between. Enter once, period, or enter once a day. Just don’t enter more than once per the 24 hour period ending at 11:59 EDT daily. The contest starts as soon as I post this and will end at 11:59 Eastern Daylight Time next Sunday, May 16. The winner will be selected on Tuesday and announced the following Sunday (May 23). You must enter a valid email address so I can notify you if you win. It will not be published and you will not be spammed by me or anyone associated with the blog or forum.
Good luck to everyone who wants to win this book!! And now the race begins…

Here is my new favorite smoothie:
2 bananas
2 dates
2 dried apricots
3/4 cup of yogurt or ice if you dont eat yogurt
The dates make it sweet and it is delicious instead of ice cream!
raw hot chocolate
1-2 T. Cacao
2 cups water
1/4 cup Brazil Nuts
Blend in a VitaMix until warm
you could also add any of these to taste:
agave or dates
cinnamon
cayenne or other pepper
sea salt
Nut or Seed Butter
Put 1/2 c. water in blender.
Add nuts of any kind to blender until the desired consistency of butter is reached.
Add a pinch of salt and flavorings, if desired.
Use sparingly.
