Rolling down the highway, the shuttle took us farther and farther from DD and closer to San Francisco. I was resigned to my fate of not being able to take pictures any time soon. My sister/seat-mate was an excellent conversationalist and we whiled away the time in visiting as if we hadn’t already been living together for the past week, more or less.... Read more

Sunday
I still don’t feel wonderful but I have to go Buy Food. If it weren’t for that, I’d stay in today and hibernate like the bears. My sister says they have the right idea. Three of my sisters have had all the snow they ever want to see. The two in North Carolina aren’t as “blessed” as the one in Colorado, though. She’s had feet of it while the rest of us have had inches. Some of the drifts are higher than her head.... Read more

My appointment was for 10:30 so I’d let my boss and her secretary know I wouldn’t be coming in until after it was over. I hadn’t counted on everything though.... Read more

The road down the mountain was beginning to be familiar. I wasn’t as timid driving as I was originally but my sister would swear I’d never been timid. She dubbed me “Old Leadfoot”. I didn’t believe I deserved the title but it has stood all these years. Ask her today and she would tell you that I am, in fact, “Old Leadfoot”. Not fair, not accurate but I’m stuck with it.... I’m putting this in the category “Being Green” but this is more like “Saving Green”. As everyone who reads my blog knows by now, I have ditched the Dish. If you haven’t read that, I’ll quote from last night’s post. If you have read the weekly update, you can skip the parts that are quoted.... Read more

Sunday
As I planned, last night I crawled between the itchy sheets without unplugging the heater and, sure enough, I felt the little prickles on my skin. I pulled the plug and voilĂ ! no more prickles. This morning, I got one of the packages a sheet had come in and Googled the company. I have emailed the info address on the web site and let them know what was going on. Now to hide and watch and see if I get a response. I’m not sure I want to sleep between sheets if they have something in them that reacts that way.... Read more

Sunday
Today started out with snow falling but it proved not cold enough for it to do anything but get slushy. It was pretty falling but it was “double ugly” on the ground. I got ready and went to town about 10:45 and got home a couple of hours later. I took a side trip and went by Mother’s grave. There was a big pile of junk off to one side about 20 feet away. I don’t know if maybe it was a new grave and the greenery had turned brown or what. Her picture is still where it is supposed to be and the arrangement, though not beautiful, is whole.... Read more

The weekend events began with Baccalaureate. My feet had recovered somewhat so I was there along with my sister. It was much more serious in tone than the program the night before had been. I’d made it a point not to adjust to the time change so by the time it was over, I was ready to go back to the dorm and to bed.... Read more

Sunday
I was almost the first one up. DS1 goes out before dawn and walks several miles with a friend so he was up before I was. I’d occupied the couch so there was nothing to do but get up after I was wide awake. After I took my thyroid med, I read two chapters in Genesis using my e-Sword program, studied my Sabbath School lesson and read in the women’s devotional book. Then I exercised.... Read more

There we were, the rear tires hanging off the pavement. It wasn’t as critical as it seemed. True, there was a downhill slope behind us but the only drop off was the low shoulder. I could barely see over the hood but there was no traffic coming. The little car was quite nimble and was equipped with front wheel drive. I carefully (I thought) maneuvered to get it back on the road but my sister was practically beside herself in the passenger seat. That was a feat since it was only big enough for one person....
