I had dug my heels in long ago and refused to sign up at Twitter. However, I hadn’t counted on DD’s persuasiveness. Today, she talked me into taking the plunge into Twitterdom. I have already Tweeted a couple of times and have almost as many followers as DD does, give or take 53.
My views on Twitter is that it’s more complicated to set up than Facebook. I wasn’t sure I wanted to put my full name on there. Via Google Talk, DD assured me I didn’t have to. So…I am Tommie. Unusual, huh?
My home page on Facebook is like anyone else’s home page, I guess. At least it looks like it. If there is an option to personalize it more than it already is, I haven’t noticed. You can set up a profile page on Twitter.
The tabs for the Twitter settings were up there, plain as the nose on my face, but I didn’t see them until I complained to DD that the site isn’t very user friendly. Guess it’s because I want to go in somewhere new and see everything right where I think it should be. Not where the site owners want them.
I picked out a background and uploaded a profile picture. Both will probably change over time. I’m not usually completely happy with anything the first day. DD says it looks good but she may just be being nice. She probably doesn’t want me asking her for help designing my page. Hers looks like something out of a magazine. Mine is blah, bland, flat, flavorless, insipid, savorless, savourless, vapid. Can you tell I know how to Google synonyms?
There’s one thing in my favor. She doesn’t tweet about raw food and I do. Well, at least half the time so far. My first Tweet was “I’ve made a yummy green smoothie so thick with romaine I have to add water to be able to drink it!” Then I Tweeted “I haven’t accomplished much in the house today because I’ve been gardening.” So…half raw food and half garden.
You won’t catch me Tweeting from my phone. I don’t text. I don’t even know how. If I did, nine times out of ten, I can’t get a signal where I am. So everyone will be safe when I’m not at a computer somewhere. But I’ll have to do it on my own time. I don’t think anyone in a position of prominence in the hospital system would appreciate my Tweeting during work.
So…now I’m a Twitterer. If anyone wants to follow me, you can find me @reallyrawfood. See you there?
