I can’t help it. I love summer and I love good summertime homegrown tomatoes and NOW I HAVE MY OWN! They are slowly ripening. I could get out there and cheer them on but I don’t think it would help any.
Remember these pictures? I’m probably the only person on this mountain that takes glamor shots of a tomato.
Now here it is (and it’s joined by the other ripe tomato) after I’ve cut it. Oh! the juicy goodness! The only bad thing about what’s on this plate is there isn’t enough for a whole meal.
The flavor was spectacular. They are the best tomatoes I have had all summer and I’m not saying that simply because God and I grew them. It’s the truth. I forgot to tell about the German Pinks I bought at a roadside stand yesterday but there is no comparison. I might mention that German Pinks are one of my favorite varieties. These are Early Girls. Maybe it’s the worm tea that gives them the good flavor. I don’t know. Whatever it is, I hope I can duplicate it next summer.
I’ll save the seed from one of my purchased German Pink tomatoes and see if I can grow them next season. I’ve used this method and it works. My efforts to grow plants from the seeds didn’t do well but that should change with using Square Foot.
I had to share my excitement and now I’ll go do something else.
