It isn’t how much you eat that makes you fat. It’s WHAT you eat.

The lady who asked me to play for her funeral was telling me about one of her relatives who has gotten very large “because she likes to eat.” I told her I like to eat, too. After all, it’s necessary to the continuation of life to take in nutrients and if they don’t taste good, I won’t want to eat. However, we do have the power of choice (in most cases) about what we are going to put in our stomachs. And what we put in our stomachs has the power to either make us healthy or unhealthy, fit or fat. Just this morning on Good Morning America, there was a segment about artificial sweeteners promoting weight gain. One thing the guest, Dr. Marie Savard, said that caught my ear was, “Anything you put in your mouth, your body has a strong reaction to it.” Amazing. Then, “We have to rethink what this artificial stuff does to us.” And artificial stuff is in practically all packaged food. Watch “Unwrapped” on the Food Network and you’ll see all sorts of “food” being manufactured from chemicals. Setting the body up for getting supersized.

Back to my post’s title. That’s what I told the lady. She agreed. She’s very slim, herself, and her cart was full of no-nonsense foods that have to be cooked, prepared, not just popped in the microwave or opened ready for snacking. Believe me, I prefer raw food but if a person has to eat cooked, at least eat the best cooked possible.

As for me, I agree with the fellow on this video, “I will eat raw!” It’s hard to overeat on raw which makes it virtually impossible to be obese on raw and extremely easy to lose if that’s what you need to do. It was the only way I could best my thyroid and get slim again.

And now for the raw truth about the last 24 hours. I was late getting to bed again. I didn’t want to know how late so I didn’t even look at the clock. It was well past 10. We’ll leave it at that. I got up and exercised for close to 30 minutes.

36 ozzies grapefruit juice
32 ozzies banana/mango/spinach/agave/ACV smoothie
4 bananas 1 organic Ambrosia apple Apples with Snow
1 okay large mango
1 pickling cucumber
4 large tomatoes with Tajin (check out FAQ if you don’t know what Tajin is)
Kelp noodles with cashew dressing
26 ozzies grapefruit juice

It was bank/post office day and wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t wear my coat. The wind was like it was coming off a glacier. I had on a sweater but it was hardly adequate. At least it had warmed up this afternoon when I had to take the mail.

My present came from my DD and merm. It’s the first full season of All Creatures Great and Small!! That’s something I’ve wanted for years and years and I walked off and left it on my desk. It isn’t Saturday night, though, and I’ve decided that can be my “date” for the next quarter year, at least. There are 13 episodes on four DVDs. Since I won’t be home every single Saturday night, it will keep me occupied longer than that. Woohoo!

There was no way I could fill my friend in on my weekend so I printed off my post from Sabbath and gave it to her. I didn’t check back to see if she got through it without going to sleep.
