That isn’t how I feel about January 1, 2008. I haven’t felt good all day. Maybe it’s because I was stressed yesterday. Maybe it’s because the dealer’s guest lounges were both cold enough to hang meat. My throat is sore. My eyes are itchy. I didn’t have the incentive to exercise. I’ve done very little in the way of moving around at all. It’s unusual for me to feel this way. I DON’T LIKE IT! One of the first things I did was gargle with warm salt water which helped but it didn’t heal me of all my ills. Shoot!
It was a little after 8 when I crawled (literally) out of bed. I considered, briefly, exercising but it wasn’t hard to talk myself out of it.
New Year’s Day Raw Food
Generous quart of OJ
29 ozzies OJ
34 ozzies banana/mango/spinach/agave nectar smoothie
2 Fuyu persimmons
Marinated black-eyed peas (really!)
1 tiny Bubbies pickle
1 cucumber, 1/4 red sweet pepper, 1 pickling cucumber, 1 serving kelp noodles marinated in a tiny bit of EVOO, lime juice, and seasonings
After I drank my quart of OJ, I wanted more. I remembered the five oranges from Harry and David and figured today was good as any to put them away. The five oranges made almost as much juice as 10 of the juice oranges did. It was delicious. However, I don’t think I’d pay the difference for them. Four lubs is $32.95. I got a full box of the juice oranges for $20.
Today is my middle child’s birthday. I sent his gift and left a rendition of “Happy Birthday” on the answering machine. I haven’t heard back so they’re probably out celebrating. I’m glad someone feels like it.
Besides watching parts of the Rose Parade (without commercials on HGTV) and The Next Iron Chef reruns on the Food Network, I’ve updated a lot on the forum. There’s been quite a bit of activity there for the New Year. Posts number over 100. That’s a lot of reading, writing, and responding. You’ll have to remember it’s still a small forum. It won’t be a year old until the 4th. That’s Friday.
Since I was borderline chilling, I soaked in the tub to warm up. I’m cool now but I won’t do it again. I’ll to go bed with my booties on.
My planned banana/romaine smoothie never worked out. It got too late too quickly.
The black-eyed peas are, of course, traditional for a New Year meal. I’d gotten the fresh ones at the supermarket before I had to retrace my steps yesterday. When I did finally get home, I started them marinating in lemon juice, EVOO (a very small amount), agave nectar, and seasonings. I’d tried eating the straight peas on one of my other raw New Year’s Days and I couldn’t say they were palatable. I let these marinate for close to 24 hours and they weren’t bad. Not something I would fix routinely but not bad.
I also had plans to decant my kim chee but that will have to wait. I’ll have to put more water in the trough. Another thing is, I need to start the distiller and check on Twinkle’s supplies.
Better get to bed. In about 12 hours, it will be back to work. Good night!
