It rained today!

Not much but every little bit helps!

This is going to be quick because I’m getting a late start on it.

I was up before 5:30 so I could get stuff ready for the retirement party and still have time for my vision therapy.

30 ozzies banana/mango/spinach smoothie

Generous 1 quart salsa with half an avocado

I had gotten my walking shoes out when I was called to a meeting concerning yet another change. This one is a good one but it will take some work to get it put in place. After the meeting, I took one of the computer gurus on a tour of the hospital and clinic. It was after that I was finally able to drink my smoothie. I probably should have listed it as a snack since it was almost 11 o’clock when I started on it. It hurt to miss my walk. That clears my head and readies me for the day.

The retirement party started at 11:30 but I didn’t get my watermelon over there until 11:50. When I walked in, the table was loaded with food and I felt kind of silly trying to find a spot for the bowl. I didn’t think people would be interested in it with so much cooked stuff. WRONG! It was inhaled and when I got the bowl back, there were two miniscule pieces left. I mean just slivers.

I’d called My Farmer yesterday and ordered my food. She brought it by today and the harvest is about over for me until fall stuff starts coming in. Hopefully, the cherry tomatoes will hold until frost and she should have some greenhouse tomatoes ready to pick by then—I hope, I hope. I got Romas, assorted other tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, okra, parsley, dill, and basil. No cucumbers this time. She said there was only one that wasn’t dried up and inedible and it had a worm in it.

Wally World was on the agenda for this afternoon but I decided I’d put it off until tomorrow. I needed some “down-time”. I worked while I ate today and I don’t like to do that.

My neighbor was outside after the rain had stopped so I visited with him for a few minutes. We looked at the fig tree and it has made a nice comeback. There are two or three figs but I don’t think they will ever be ready to eat. They are more of a decoration. The tree is probably nine feet tall and the leaves are gorgeous. Easy to see how Adam and Eve could make clothes of them. Especially since the ones they had access to were even bigger than these. While we were inspecting the tree, he told me his wife’s boss was found dead in bed this morning. He was in his late 40’s and must’ve had a heart attack. Sad. He said he knew of a wife but wasn’t aware of any children. He and his wife slept in separate bedrooms so he died alone. I guess she was the one who found him. That would be a terrible experience.

My friend called from Mexico. She’s planning on coming back soon. She has a place to live all lined up and has the promise of furnishings. Now she wants a red Mustang convertible with a black top. Yeah, right. I guess she can dream and who knows? She may get it.

I’ve been conferring with my daughter and SIL about something and I need to write them one more e-mail and go to bed. Good night, all!
