A record 103! The temperature, that is.

My fan made my bedroom quite comfy but it still got too hot and I came in and turned on the a/c in the early morning hours. I hadn’t turned on the light and went a little overboard. It was below 70 in the house when I got up.

Exercising consisted of BodyFlex, period. I even forgot to take my shoes to work so I didn’t walk. I did sit in the sun for 15 minutes before it got stifling.

100% Raw Food

Breakfast
17 ozzies OJ (I was pleasantly surprised that it was good, considering the oranges I ended up with—I had to throw one away)
32 ozzies banana/mango/romaine smoothie

Snack all day long
Marinated cucumbers and onion

Lunch
30 ozzies banana/romaine smoothie
2 of the best mangos I’ve had all summer I got at the local supermarket for 59 cents each

Very small snack
A few spoonfuls of salsa one of the girls made—mine’s better 🙂

Supper
2 quarts watermelon
1 young coconut
Scant quart of salsa with avocado

It was a busy day but I got another Annual Competency finished and started one. That’s two down and four to go.

We got into a discussion at lunch about our pension plan. One of the Bunch was saying she would be able to draw a monthly annuity of well over $1,000 if she retired at 65. She’s a lot younger than I am and will have more than 30 years in when she retires (if she ever does). I’ll have less than 10 with the current company so I’ll end up with a fraction of that. I could keep on working but I’d rather not. We were grandfathered in on everything except the pension. If my total years of service counted, I’d be sitting pretty, but they don’t.

The post office/bank girl asked me to take the mail this afternoon. I’ve been using the little As Seen On TV solar fan thingy in the car and it does work. I was trying to use it last year with all the windows rolled up. I’ve found it helps to cool things off considerably if all the windows are down by an inch. It’s still not comfortable but I don’t burn my hands on the steering wheel.

I called Nancy and put in my order for tomorrow. She said the heat had gotten to her cantaloupe so bad that they are exploding at the ends. Made me wonder if they have the same problem the exploding watermelons had a couple or three years ago. There was some kind of disease that made them blow up. Doubt that it would injure a person but I’m sure it would make a mess.

The salsa this afternoon made me want some for supper. I’ll have to tell you, what I made was some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Too bad there wasn’t a contest around I could enter it in. We used to do fun things like that every now and then but no more. Maybe we weren’t getting enough work done?

I need to check in on the forum and go to bed.

Good night!

    Hi Tommie,

So is your BodyFlex program hosted by Greer Childress with a big fluffy 80s perm? I picked up the 15 min. workout at Goodwill because you talk about it all the time and I was curious. It involves some strange breathing and stretches and funny faces. Wow. Since I didn’t have the instructional video, I had no idea what it was all about. Care to talk about it more? Or do I have some other BodyFlex?

    Thanks,
    Marjorie

No, it’s hosted by Greer Childers who looks like a Barbie Doll. I have the more “modern” version with the GymBar. I’ve worn one bar out but I’d gotten one off Ebay when I upgraded from a tape to a DVD. My mother taught voice and was heavy into breathing exercises and breath control. She would have loved the “strange breathing”. I think that’s a lot of the secret of the success of BodyFlex. You can check it out at http://bodyflex.com and see what Greer looks like now (or, at least, a few years ago).

Yep, that’s her. I must have an old version. It’s funny. I don’t know about the breathing. Seems a bit like hyperventilating. But I don’t have the instructional video to be convinced on it. LOL!

Miss seein’ you around the forum. I’m just so darn busy.

At first, the breathing made me very lightheaded but I can do it now with no problem. It was hard to make it all the way through the routine, too, but I’ve added reps to it plus time holding them until it takes me around 30 minutes to do the whole thing.

I know what you mean about busy. There aren’t enough hours in the day! Stop in when you can!
