40% of my vacation is gone

40% of my vacation is gone and I have little to show for it except a sore hand. I got up at 6:30 this morning and did my exercises. I had something to put in the mailbox and I swung by the weeds that were covering up my cactus. I came in and grabbed the pair of scissors that used to belong to my mother and proceeded to cut the tall green stuff from around the cacti. I got stuck a couple of times but what really hurt were the sharp grasses that slashed mostly my left pinky. Plus, every time I tried to cut something with those shears, I thought how frustrated my mother must’ve been with them. They would hardly cut warm butter. She could have had better but I guess she didn’t realize how bad they were.

I finished up the manicuring and had my breakfast. OJ and a banana/romaine smoothie. I was going to use the rest of my organic romaine but it had passed its prime. It ended up on the compost pile. My mid-morning snack was a peach and a half and a kiwi.

The day turned out to be a pleasant one with temperatures that weren’t bad at all. I caught a half hour of rays.

When I came in, I worked on the house some and then had a banana/pear/spinach smoothie. That was the last of my spinach. Then I had a cucumber and some chopped tomatoes with Tajin.

I put in some time working on my special project plus did some more on the house. It’s turning out to be an exciting time off. Yeah, right. I’m determined not to go anywhere until I have to and, so far, the only places I’ve been are church and the shower. This is what I wanted to do and I’m doing it. It will be the cheapest vacation I’ve ever had, for sure. I let my neighbors know not to be concerned when they don’t see the car leave. I’m staying home and GETTING STUFF DONE.

It looked as though it was going to cloud up and storm eventually so I grabbed my towel and timer and went out for some more time outside. It was a little overcast for a few minutes but that burned off and the sun made its appearance. I got in another 30 minutes.

When I came in, I polished off the rest of the watermelon from the university store. They lasted well. I put the two I got a couple of days ago in the fridge to chill. I hope they are good. I kept the receipt so I can take ’em back if they aren’t.

I had some more tomatoes with Tajin. I’m sure that it isn’t good for me in the quantities I’m consuming. I need to cut back on it. One of the large mangos needed eating so I put it out of its misery. It was one of the better ones. Barefoot Contessa has a recipe for mango sorbet that I want to try. Might do that tomorrow.

I’d blended up some cashew dressing at lunchtime and marinated some cucumber and red onion in it. I poured it over some romaine this evening and proceeded to eat it. I’d overdone it on the sea salt so I got some more cashews out and buffered it. That made it edible and expensive. What really hurt was throwing away what was left in the bowl after I’d finished the romaine. I couldn’t see putting that much salt in my body, though.

The China Studyis turning out to be a good read. I’d expected a rather dry scholarly tome. There have been so many people who have recommended it that I had to finally give in and get it. I’m going to go on to bed and read some more tonight.

Later, y’all!

Good morning! I’ve been wondering about you! How are you doing? Have you been able to carry out your intentions to eat more raw food?

Tajin is labeled “Fruit Seasoning”. It’s chili powder, dehydrated lime juice, and salt. I can get it in the produce section at Wal*Mart. It’s pretty tasty but I doubt it’s terribly good for me.

    Keep in touch!
