This is Sunday morning and I’ve been up for awhile

This is Sunday morning and I’ve been up for awhile and had my shower. My roommate is still in bed, though she’s awake. We stayed up until 11:15 watching the movie. Breakfast isn’t until 8 so we have 45 minutes before we need to set out.

I’m home now. That was quick, wasn’t it? It’s now 9:05 pm. Back to breakfast. I had enough spinach and ripe-ish bananas to make two smoothies. My roommate had said she would drink one so I took her up on it. I used my meal ticket to gain access to the dining room where she was. There were some good strawberries on the salad bar plus I got two bananas. When we got back to the room, I fixed a tall glass of OJ and drank it.

She loaded the car while I got my stuff together and we set out. It’s been a beautiful day, though a little on the cool side. We stopped at the university and went to the book store. I got Mad Cowboy by Howard F. Lyman and two Eric B. Hare CDs. We went to the supermarket where I stocked up on the produce I’d need to do me until my organic order comes in. After that, we went to see my friend’s daughter’s apartment. It’s very nice. She shares it with two other people. They each have their own large bedroom and there’s a living room, kitchenette, and full bath with a jacuzzi. The swimming pool is right outside the living room. The house looks as though it is fairly new and it’s huge. The family lives upstairs and the apartment is in the basement. The basement looks like it’s built into a hillside and it’s bermed on three sides which should make it snug and warm.

After we left there, we wended our way through the countryside the way I usually go so we could stop by the fruit and veggie stand I frequent. My friend had said she needed some good tomatoes but she was having a hard time finding them in the stores. I got a box of tomatoes while we were there.

She took me on to the hospital, we transferred my things to my car, and she went her way. I pulled over to the hospital and visited with the registrar who was on duty. Friday night, there was a tornado warning out for the area but nothing materialized, thank the Lord.

When I got home, I unloaded the car and fixed me a banana/romaine smoothie. I put on my bathing suit and went out and lay in the sun for 1/2 hour and sipped the smoothie. I had to get up at one point to come in the house briefly and when I went back, the little dog from next door was out there sniffing around my pillow. It left as soon as it saw me.

I came in the house and had some tomato “chili”. A little later, I fixed a large salad of romaine, cucumber, green onion, tomato, avocado, and lime juice.

It was a nice weekend and I had a good time. The speakers were excellent, for the most part, and the music was incredible. There was a 50 voice choir that was made up, mostly, of academy students from several different schools. I have heard a couple of the individual choirs and they were okay but, together, and with the director that was leading them, they were outstanding. However, no matter how inspiring everything was, it was nice to get home.

Twinkle met me at the door, meowing. I’d left her plenty of dry cat food but she’d polished it off. No telling when, either. I got her a couple of lamb medallions. She has one small piece left and she’s ensconced on my bed. She’s had three nights of sleeping wherever she wants but it will be back to her bathroom tonight.

And with that, I’ll close this.

I love you blog. Thank you for taking the time to write each day to encourage others. I like how simple your diet is. You drink alot of smoothies…do you make them in a blender? I am new to the raw food diet and I do have the money as of yet for a good juicer or food processor, but I have a blender I have been using. I make lots of vegetable and fruit smoothies.

Are you 100% raw and if not what do you eat that is not raw?

    Thanks, Jamillah

Thanks for your thoughts. As for the simple diet, the simpler the better when you’re eating raw. That’s the key to success. I have gotten hooked on green smoothies and I do make them in a blender. I have a L’equip that does a great job. It costs a fraction of what a VitaMix does but it works just as well. You really don’t need a juicer. I hardly ever use mine. I use it for masticating and not for juicing. Juice is a fractured food. I eat whole foods. The smoothies are wonderful for getting the vitamins and minerals you need. Use lots of greens in them! They work wonders!

Yes, I’m 100% raw and have been since June 24, 2005, except for one meal of lentils and a boiled potato. That was on a Sunday evening. I was sick from Monday through Thursday and decided that the good taste and feel of them sliding down my throat wasn’t worth it. If you want to read about what led up to it, do a search for “lentils” and you should find it.

Take care and check back every now and then!

    Tommie
